WHATS HAPPENING TUESDAY
Grandson just left for school this morning....He got his books yesterday by fed ex and a guy at school told him yesterday that he had all of the one that he is taking. and would sell it to me for 30.00 so he is going to get that one and take the new one back and get his money back....that will be good cause he can put two new tires on his car with the money for that one book ....crazy huh? do you know that a lot of the books now are not really books but loose pages that you have to put in a notebook ? and that they wont buy them back because one of the pages might be missing? that is awful in my opinon . that bunch of pages cost 125.00 and unless you can find someone next year that needs them you are just out of luck...that is like last semester he had over 300 dollars worth of books, there was only one book that they would buy back for 30 dollars...the rest were either loose leaf books , which they wont buy back or books that they said were out of date. So now he has these books pilled up that are worth nothing . crazy...
We got only about a half inch of rain yesterday but it sure did my flowers a world of good. I swear my marigolds and zinnias look like they have grown at least a couple of inches overnight.
I think my friend would have taken a lots of starts of things if her husband would have. Their garden is on the side of a hill and lots of rocks so he has to dig out holes to plant things. and he said it isnt easy to dig out and i would imagine it isnt....
werent those weird looking clouds yesterday? never saw anything like them before ...We sat out on the back porch watching those things . Even had the thoughts about wonder if Jesus came back and we had gotten left behind ...Havent heard a lot of reports about people being missing tho. so hopefully . lol
well got to get busy im going to pull up all my beets today and get them canned. they are all just about the right size to can, by cutting them into 1/4s....Bec i wish you were here to share them with. i had a wonderful crop and if i dont get enough jars full from this planting i may plant some more for a fall harvest. dont know will see. And then tomorrow i need to do my carrots i think.
I still havent heard anything from Jeanie , Hope her husband is doing better. I know that is a horrible feeling for your spouse to be so bad and not be able to do anything but sit and pray.
Jeanie if you are reading this know that we are all praying for Your husband and for You....love you .
well guys got to go get those beets pulled up and see how many pints of beets i can can ...lol

You are Wonder Woman. Now you're not only growing stuff but canning as well. You are the BOMB!!!! I got beets at the Farmers Market a couple of weeks ago and they were awesome. When you can them do you do them pickled or just plain. I'd like a recipe to cook some up as pickled beets - not can, just refrigerate.
I just love beets!!!
No news here. My scars are awesome. They are all darkish now - my complexion is dark and then I tanned until right before surgery but they will lighten I know. It just takes time. Also still have swelling right where the vertical cut meets the horizontal cut but I believe that will go down in time. I am in the binder until the last week of June and then I got a Kymaro garment to wear when the binder comes off. Think I'll feel more secure with something for a few more weeks.
Gotta get to work. Jeanne I'm praying for your husband and for you.

Lana I just pickled some last weekend. I took the easy route and just bought cheap canned sliced beets and here is the recipe I used. I liked this recipe cause the juice is a little thicker and I don't seem to wear it down the front of a nice blouse, nearly as easily. :-)
HARVARD BEETS
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
3 Tablespoons Splenda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 Tablespoons vinegar
2/3 cup water (I used the juice from the cans it measured just the right amount)
1 teaspoon butter
2 cups sliced, cooked beets (equals 1 can)
Directions
In med saucepan, mix cornstarch, sugar, and salt.
Add vinegar and water.
Cook and stir until thickened. Taste and adjust to your liking if needed.
Add butter and beets.
Heat through.
Was enough to fill one pint jar. Refridgerate once cooled.
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do,
Connie

As we were taking off in Charlotte the plane made a huge pop and then a rumble but we were already committed to take off. About an hour before we got to STL the pilot came on and said we would have to have an emergency landing due to a problem with the nose gear. That hour was spent with instruction on crash landings. We had to practice crash position and they really had me scared. They even asked for people who had military or medical training to identify so they could use them for help. They made sure we knew it was serious. We had to do a low fly by of the tower so they could see if the gear was still there, it was but they could not tell about the tires because of distance. Fire trucks and emergency people were there standing by. We came back around to land on the far runway just in case. When we touched down it wasn't to bad and the another pop and rumble and shaking. The pilot was able to keep us straight and get us stopped. The fire trucks swarmed us but there was no fire. We had to leave the plane there and be bussed to the terminal. As I left the plane I looked at the wheels ,the front seemed ok but the back had apparently blown a tire on takeoff and the another while landing. There was no tire at all on one of the wheels. I guess we were lucky. I have to admit I was pretty scared for that hour. My stress level was already at a peak before this.
I cannot eat to calm myself today because I am on clear liquids in prep for a colonoscopy tomorrow. When it rains it pours I guess. Dh is having a cat scan today. He has had the cough for so long. Xrays showed something in his sinus so this will confirm his problem hopefully.
I hope everyone has a great day and I will try to come to the meeting Friday if my last nerve is still there. I am about to run out of nerves to fray.

Looks like rain and there were a few sprinkles on the way in to work.
I love beets too. I buy the canned beets and make pickled beets. Years ago I canned beets by the bushel. My dad had them in his garden.

it was cloudy here today too. we got one side of the drive way cleaned up and cut down....also one side of the driveway grasses.
I think this fall we will do a lot of cleaning up before winter comes. so that in the spring i dont have to spend 2 or 3 weeks cleaning up before i can plant.
