Started to pickle beets yesterday and didnt have enough stuff to do it. so had to go to wal mart to get the rest of it and while there  bought more canning jars and other things , yippee got out of there for less than 100 dollars lol
I have the beets on canning right now in my canner....made 12 pints. dont know if i will plant more this fall or not. maybe will...i really love to eat them....

So glad that we heard from Jeanie, just continue to keep her and her husband in your prayers . this is a horrible time for her and him....

It keeps sprinkling rain here this morning off and on...how about where you are. at least it is keeping the heat of summer at bay. Usually June is our heaviest rain fall month ...but we down here havent had much this month so far.

Have you all seen the price of Onions lately ??? that is outrageous. glad im raising some ....of course that doesnt help me out much right now....the cheapest was 1.49 a pound....stupid prices.

not a lot to talk about this morning other than canning and pulling weeds lol

Oh YES there is something , guess what i saw on Monday when i was driving up to meet my friend at work to lead her in????? a Black bear....really it was about half way out to the highway. and it was just standing on the side of the road. I stopped and looked at it and it looked at me and then ambled off as if to say nothing to look at here. lol ...guess i didnt look like a good meal at all. too old and tough well that is the best i can come up with that has happened.

post away guys will be waiting to hear what you have to say.

No rain this AM in Springfield since I got to work. Looks like it could but none yet.

I'm so jealous about you seeing the bear. I am always looking for one when we go to Branson cause I think they are further south than Nixa but looks like they are further south than Branson. I love bears. I don't even see deer except dead by the road. I think our fenced yards are too intimidating for them. I know that many hate them for eating flowers but you all know that I'd give all my plants (except maybe the peonies and lilac) to have deer in my yard!!! Foolish old woman.

Feel so bad for Jeanie. I really didn't believe you could be on O2 and smoke. Thought you'd blow up. Another example of stuff I don't know. I'm keeping her and her DH in prayers for sure.

Must go, this is the wind down for the fiscal year at work so I'm pushed and pulled every direction.

Love you all.

well wish you could have been with me when i saw the bear....he didnt seem in too big of a hurry or scared or anything....it was really exciting because they have been spotted now and then by people who hunt but ordinary people (lol) like me no....
and deer there isnt a day goes by that we dont see deer somewhere. the other day right in Kissee mills when Joe was taking me to work there was a mama and her tiny little one , couldnt have been more than 3 or 4 days old , it was still wobble on its legs...there was cars stopped all around her so she could get the baby off the highway safely and she took her and the baby off pretty fast...was so neat. that little baby was soooooo cute.
dont work too hard getting everything all worked up at work....

Jan, do you use Splenda in your Pickled Beets?  I used to eat a few slices when I was pickling them.

A bear?  You do lead an exciting life.

We got a lot of rain yesterday evening along with thunder and lightning.

Hi Mimi....

Did you think I'd gone AWOL.... have so much to catch you all up on....

I've been working for an escort service and it's taking up all my time right now... golly WOW if I knew it was that FUN I'd of been doing it YEARS ago! ~tee hee  My sis told me, "only you Bec would do something like that"  Boy I've met lots and lots of really neat fellas!  more about that later.... (me bad ~tee hee)

Well... other good news too... I did NOT have the proper clothes for "escorting" so I had to go to Wal~Mart and I was liked shocked!  I waltzed (really walked ~ha) this fanny of mine into a size 12 pair of jeans ... I was in the dressing room and when I put them on and they fit!!!!! I said, "NO WAY"  out loud and I heard the attendant chuckle... when I opened the door and came out she had this look on her face that said, "Oh I'm sorry"... I looked at her and said... "it's a good day!"  She thought I was upset because I had gained weight!  It was too funny.... I shared a little bit of my story with her... that I had went from a size 28/30 to this 12.  We talked about her husband and how he needed help... when I got home my Paul was like.... WOW! That was NICE!

Mimi~ I sure wish I was doing up beets right now I LOVE LOVE LOVE those things... my beet bed is looking very good but we are at least a couple of weeks behind you always so I hope I will have some yet.... and going to for sure plant another crop in the fall...

Well I have lots and lots more I could tell you all but better first tell you about my new job escorting is actually driving a flag truck for tractor trailers that haul HUGE bridge beams, and concrete products from the manufacturing plant to the job sites.  So totally fascinating!!! I really have met some sweet, nice fellas, I started baking and taking them cookies and now I'm just alright in there eyes!  Have a load out tomorrow, that makes me have worked every day this week and will have baked nearly 30 dozen cookies if I work on Friday and am losing weight in the process... now THAT'S progress for this fat girl!  I get up and am out the door around 5/5:30 get back, fix supper for Paul, make more cookies, exercise, get my bag ready for the next day and fall into bed exhausted, for about 3 to 5 hours...I'm plumb tuckered ~ha I'm earning brownie points with those drivers though, so when I need them to cover my back they will be there. ~ha  They would anyway but it sure is fun listening to them talk on the radio about it... boy there going to marry me and all kinds of things!  ~just too fun... they like to kid me for sure.

Well I have to get out there and exercise I'm about to take my last batch of cookies out of the oven... and finish up the day....

My thoughts and prayers are with Jeanie Rea and her family.  I will write more as time allows... blessings to all.

now that sounds like one great job....lol  im like Susie about the application ....how did you find that job sounds like it is doing you some good anyway....and losing weight in the process sounds really good. shaking up the routine sometimes is a great thing.

Hope your beets do well....I could have canned these last week but didnt. i was thinking about you when i was doing these up yesterday. they look so pretty in the jars. I need to get me a presure cooker to do more things in....now where to put them in my house of no storage....im thinking of taking my books out of the book case and put them in there lol
