WHATS HAPPENING ?

So this is the last day of the month of May and half of the year is over already. I dont know if i am going to be ready for winter again this year or not. NOT!!!! I sure hope that i dont have to stay around here in the cold for this winter again. George , my grandson is suppose to go to summer school and then is enlisting into the Marines in August. I really have mixed emotions about that...I wish he would stay and continue college and get 4 years under his belt and then go in if that is what he wants at least he would be an officer. and too if there wasnt a war on i would feel better about him going too...But on the other hand, it is time that he gets out on his own. He will 21 at the end of June and venturing up here to live with me is the most he has ever done for himself. lol....i have taught him to be a little more self reliant...His grandmother in Houston , the one he has lived with most of his life, is full blooded Mexican and her ideas come from her heritage....and to they think that children are to really be taken care of ...to the extreme really and especially boys. the Mexican mothers never let their boys do anything for themselves. like cook , clean, or learn to wash clothes, or pick up after themselves. lol well you know how that has gone here ....he has learned to do a lot of stuff like that, especially the first time i went over to the guest house and saw the bathroom after he had been here about a month.....cleaning time was upon him ....lol ...i told him welcome to the real world....

well my friend that was suppose to come out yesterday, got lost 3 different times so she just turned around and went home...i told her that the next day we both have off together we will meet them at the Cedar Creek store and they can follow us in. so that is the plan on that. I think next monday is to be that day. Hopefully all of my lillies will be in full bloom by them so there will be lots to look at.
Was disappointed that they didnt make it.

I already have my laundry for the day in the washer and it is going so have that done for the day or about anyway. When i get off here will sweep the floors and am going to mix up some Banana nut bread , bought bananas and they got too ripe too quick...just right for bread today....

well need to go walk the pathways and see what is new in the gardens...yesterday i discovered some of my hardy glads blooming ....had even forgotten that they were there. so glad that they bloomed , very pretty. now i have to remember where they were so i can leave them in the ground this fall....i have pea**** orchids that look just like the glads , or rather the leaves do so it is hard to not dig them all up in the fall. i will need to mark them as they bloom or something. If it doesnt rain today will start on the iris beds, deweeding and cutting off the stems that have bloomed. will be an all day job that is for sure.

Hope you all have a great day today....we just always sit quietly on holidays and breath a sigh of relief when all the week enders leave our little community. Talk to you all later.....

It's a beautiful day.  I'm feeling a little down this morning.  I think its because I was so looking forward to a 3 day weekend and intended to get so much done.  Now, it's the third day and I'll be going back to work tomorrow and I haven't really gotten a lot done.  I did rearrange a cabinet and I got my woman cave in good shape, but other than that, I've read a lot and that's about it.

Watched It's Complicated with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin.  Pretty funny!

I bought some smoked pork loin chops already cooked so that's what we had last night with some corn on the cob.  The meat was so dry even with a little BBQ sauce.  I didn't think my dinner would ever go down.  I chewed 3 papayas and that seemed to help.  I love corn but I have problems eating it.

Jan, I understand your thought on your GS enlisting.  I would have mixed feelings if it were my GS.  I talked to my son yesterday and he is seeing a doctor about his alcoholism.  He's on a medication that is supposed to help with the craving.  He sees the doctor Wednesday and will get another med that counteracts some of the side effects of the current med.  I didn't ask questions.  I told him I was glad he was getting help and he said he was trying.  I'm praying he will conquer his addiction, but I know it's difficult.

Well, I need to get off here and get busy doing something.

Im so glad that your son is trying , i dont think my daughter is to that point tho yet. ...I pray that she will get there one day.

Good Afternoon, Mama Jan & MO Peeps!

Had a great day today.  Jake and I went fishing and caught some nice size fish.  I caught 2 pretty good size croppie and 1 nice size bass.  Jake caught 1 bass.  Actually, those are the only ones we felt were big enough to take home.  We caught a lot of fish just weren't quite big enough to keep.  Had a great time fishing, talking and just enjoying being with my youngest son!  He turned 15 in January and I know the past 3 years will just fly by. Want to enjoy him while he's still at home!  Of course, he asked me if I wanted to go back out later tonight.  I was going to, but decided I'm just too tired.  We spent a little over 3 hours out there so I think that's enough fishing for this "old" lady for the day!

David is still not feeling well.  David's been sick for about a week now.  He's had 2 rounds of antibiotics and 3 shots of rocephin!  His boss was sick first and of course came to work a couple days with it until he decided to stay home a few days.  That's how David got it.  Just irritates me because when David doesn't work he doesn't get paid!  He's still a 1099 Contractor.  We're still hoping/praying they put him on as a W2 and soon!  Our COBRA ends today, however, we were able to purchase health insurance at a pretty good rate starting tomorrow.  I am so thankful for that!  Please pray David's able to go back to work tomorrow.  He was off last Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.  He went into work for an hour or so on Friday, however, his boss sent him home.  I told him he had no business going back to work on Friday but of course, who am I that he would LISTEN to!?

I finally got my office cleaned out.  What a mess of paperwork I had to go thru.  Had to throw some out, shred some and file others.  I thought we were suppose to be going to a paperless society? What happened!?  I'd really like to clean my bedroom this week and our master bath.  The rest of the house isn't too bad.  Just needs dusting and picking up a little.  Boy how I wish I could afford maid service.  But then again I've heard you have to have things picked up in order for them to come in and do the cleaning? Makes no sense to me!

Mama Jan - I'm so glad to see your posting again! I missed you while you were "gone". I understand completely about the burdens of this world getting us down.  It's been a really rough couple of years with David not having a "regular" job.  I try to keep my eyes on the Lord, however, I'm human and at times I worry and fret.  I know it makes absolutely no difference in how things are and I know the Lord tells us not to worry, but I do.  I'll keep you and your daughter in my prayers.  So your GS is going into the Marines? My husband spent 9 years in it.  He's told both our boys that if they want to go into the service they have to either go into the Naval Academy or the Air Force Academy - told them NO Marines or Army.  I feel that Jake will be the one who will want to serve his country. I have mixed feelings about it too.  Especially in this day and age.
Have to take all our worries and leave them at the feet of Jesus - it's easier said than done but that's what we're suppose to do.  I know your GS loves you for making him be responsible.  I can only imagine what that bathroom looked like after a month of him not cleaning it...sounds like my oldest.  There are times I have to make Luke actually scrub his bathroom with bleach - think he may just have to do that this week!  Like you said, welcome to the REAL world!  lol!

Jeanie Rae - I'm glad your husband is doing better. I'm praying for him and for you!

Jo - sounds like you got more done than you think.  Plus I believe we all deserve some time to ourselves and I LOVE to read!  One of my goals this year is to read the bible completely thru - I've been following Andy's post.  Plus I really want to learn Kay Arthur's way of bible study.  It's tough because the way she does it seems so foreign to me.  There's a lady *****cently moved from our town to Olathe.  She's a big Kay Arthur fan and held numerous Kay Arthur bible studies in her home...I think I may contact her and see if she could help me learn the inductive bible study tactics.

Beautiful Bec - I'm sorry we've missed each other! I'll try calling you sometime tomorrow!  Can't wait to hear all about your new adventures!  You are always getting into one thing or another!

The rest of you MO Peeps - Hope you all had a great 3 day weekend!  Enjoy the rest of the week.  I think the weather is suppose to be great!  At least we can hope so!  :)

Well, it's almost 6:30 and I'm seriously thinking about calling it a day!  Good night everyone.

Debbie, I've not heard of Kay Arthur but I'll put her on my library list.  I've tried reading the Bible the last 2 years but give it up after about 3 months.  I really should try to do it.

I love crappie and bass but I prefer to "fish" at the grocery store or Costco.  My first husband could fish all day and he liked night fishing.  Not me.  I'm just not the outdoorsy type.

Sorry to hear about your husband.  Hope he gets well soon.  I know how that hurts when you don't work and have no sick leave.

Debbie D.....sounds like you and your son had a great day fishing. as they say a goodly mess of em....lol
Your advice on leaving the worries at the feet of Jesus is right on. and for the most part of my life i do that but sometimes when things get so overwhelming and too much is piled up all at once it seems it is  the hardest to remember that. and that is when we should really go dump them all at his feet more than any other time , looks like as we get older we are suppose to get wiser and would remember that.
Am praying for David that he would get well and that he will be hired on as regular.
