Hello All! Not sure if you remember me, but I need help.
Hey All,
I'm doing terrible on my weight lose. Accually I have gained back 26 lbs. I went to see Dr. Hornbostel in Feb. and he wanted me to go on a complete liquid diet for 3 months. Needless to say I fail terribally at it. I can't leave the sugar and carbs alone. I fell like I did before surgery, like I have no control over what I eat. Always craving something. I am suspose to go see the Dr. again on June 10th but I'm scared at what he's gonna say to me. I know what I shouldn't eat but I do it anyway. And I have had lots of trouble with my back. Have had nerve blocks done and even a back surgery. So I haven't been able to do excersice.I just don't know where to go from here or where to start at. And how to make myself eat like I should. Please anyone who may have been thru the same problems or just may know how to help me. I could really use your advise. Thank-you and take care, Tammy V.

Hi Tammy it is so good to see you on here again.... you have to have a support group of somekind to make it a little easier...Dr. H has an excellent one and if you are close enough to him you need to be there every month. and if you can come online with us more often you might find some help....if nothing but friendships and sometimes that is all we need....Sounds like you really have the carb monster ahold of you....you do have to de carb yourself and that does take more will power ...im not sure you would have to do a liquid diet for 3 months but just start on one. take it one day at a time and if you stumble dont give up the next hour is another hour. i think everyone tends to be way too hard on themselves...you start the day good and somewhere in the day you mess up and then you say oh well no sence in trying i messed up , but just remember for every hour that you dont eat something that you shouldnt have is an hour that you did great in.....Do you have to have sugar and carbs in your house? get rid of the stuff. dont use kids or husband as a reason. you can make them treats that are good and healthy and not junk.......and besides they dont need it either. just tell them that it is no longer going to be within easy reach of you...if your husband has to have candy then tell him he has to have it away from you , lol I have had to tell mine that...so he buys it and stashes it somewhere im not sure but i do see wrappers in the trash lol
Exercise for me is really hard to do too but we all can walk , make it a daily thing, and each day try to walk a little more even if it is just 5 feet more...get a IPod or something and listen to your4 favorite music as you walk it really does help ... I know you know all of this . if you want to you can email me and i will give you my phone number ...email is [email protected] would love to talk to you and i if your arent verizon i can put your number on my friends list and it wont cost anything. ok?
Just remember I care....and im so glad to see you back on line.....

GOD BLESS YOU TODAY

Jan, Thank-you so much for your encouragement and advice. I am really gonna start making myself my priority again instead of everything else. I didn't go thru this surgery to still be fat.I live three hours from Sedalia so I will have to search for a support group here. I think the hosp here has one.I'm even paid up til July at the fitness center and don't even go. Don't know what's wrong with me.Thanks again and I will work on this. Hope all is going better with your brother and daughter.Love,Tammy V.
Tammy, sorry to hear you are struggling. You are about 6 months further out than me. I've not lost any weight since last August. I've gone up a few pounds then back down, but I really need to lose another 20 lbs. to get out of the overweight category.
Jan gave you excellent advice. It really is up to you to take control. You need to control the food and not let food control you. Look back and think about how good you felt losing the weight. Three months on a liquid diet seems extreme, but I'm sure the dr. was just trying to get you back on track. Do 3 days and you will rid yourself of carbs and that should cut your cravings. Go back to the beginning.
As for exercise, I struggle with that but I'm doing it. Walk or do chair exercises. By chair exercises, I mean things you can do sitting down. Do an Internet search to find things you can do from your chair.
Come here often and you might also check out the RNY board here.
You can get those 26 lbs. off. Keep telling yourself that. It's helps me to cook foods that are good for me. I'm less off to eat unhealthy foods if I've gone to the trouble to make healthy ones.

Tammy,
Jan's advice is right on as usual. DO NOT have carbs in your house. DO NOT use family as a reason to have chips, cookies, sweets, etc. My hubby, like Joe, has treats and I don't want to know where he keeps them. I'm not strong. Don't avoid Dr. H and do try to do what he tells you. He cannot help you if you aren't willing to help yourself. Keep coming on here. I will ALWAYS tell you the truth - even if it is tough love. Love never fails.
Hugs,
Lana
