Honey, I'm Home!!!

I am home. Had a restless night last night at the motel but not so much pain, just thunderstorms and noisy air conditioner and refrigerator. I had it at KU MedWest Surgery Center and it was good. Everyone was so nice. I had Dr. Ponnuru and Dr.Doss and they were excellent. AND I no longer have a belly button!!
Dr. Doss said since I needed so much taken out side to side it would be easier to take the BB and I said go for it. I didn't care one bit and had said that from the beginning. If I need one I'll have a bullet hole tattooed there!!! Taking lots of pain meds but think I need them for the first few days. It does hurt more than the lap holes and I have two drains that are draining quite a bit - and he told me to put my binder on in a couple of days - told others to wait a week I just wonder what the difference is. I will try to get on again later in the week but I'm wearing out so I'll stop for now. Thanks for all your prayers and concern. It does help so much to know you are being held up to the Lord in prayer. I'll miss you Friday night.
Hugs and loveys,
Lana

Lana;
So glad to hear from you. Glad to hear your doing fine. Take it easy and follow instructions. They would not let me put my garment on until the drains were out. Don't see how you can wear it with the drains...but, must do what they say. Actually they did not give me my garment until the day my drains came out and then Jane put it on me.

I will definately put you in my prayers and please let us know how you are doing as soon as you feel up to it. You know how to contact me if you need anything.

Hugs

 I am so happy you are doing well. I am using Dr Doss as well. He mentioned to me I might lose a belly button too. I guess we really do not need one anyway. Keep us posted and get your rest. I can't wait to hear how the compression garment works out with the drains.

Hi dear Lana, so glad you made it home in one piece,or minus one piece (belly button lol) no don't laugh that really hurts doesn't it? 2 weeks out for me , my muscles still hurt! wen't in yesterday and dr "P" removed my last 2 drains.....aaaaaaaahhhh sigh of relief, I HATED those things! It is funny though how it seems we all got differen't instructions. I was told not to put on my binder until my first check up (one week after surgery) at which time he took out one of my drains. then wore the binder with the two I had left, yes it was a challenge managing not to block the drains with the binder on. You know what? you told the doc almost the same thing I did, if I were to lose my belly button (i didn't it looks much nicer now!) then I would just have one tattooed on!!! great minds think alike I guess!! Did he tighten your ab muscles? he did mine, must of been extra tight, it still hurts like the devil sometimes 2 weeks later, he sent me home with valium, and it really helps with the sleep, I guess it helps relax the muscles. Anyhow I think It took a few 3 or 4 day's before I could get up and down without ouch ouch ouching...still hurts but not like it did, just take your pain meds as ordered for at least the first week before you try to taper them off.. The binder helps ALOT with the pain in the abs, believe it or not, once you can wear it , it will feel better.well, take care and get back on when you feel better, will still say a prayer or two for your speedy and less painful recovery. Love and hugs, Susan A p.s did he tell you how much he took off? mine was around 12-14 lb.s!!! seems like it should of been more...sure looks like it anyhow!!
