WHATS HAPPENING THURSDAY
Looks like they sure had some bad weather in Ok last night so i guess we are in for it too.
I certainly didnt do much yesterday...deadheaded all of my dianthus...they are really pretty this year and i want to keep them blooming at least for a while longer...wish they would deadhead themselves tho lol
I was just too tired from working those 3 days in a row and all the running i had to do. one thing that i wont even try to do anymore those is pick up on them...im afraid that they and me both would wind up on the floor and there would go my back....probably for good.
oh yes yesterday i sprinkled Preen on all the flower beds that we had cleaned out....and started cleaning up the iris that have finished blooming ....after they bloom i cut the stems back down so that doesnt fall off and rot on the ground...I like to keep my iris beds really clean...there is a bug called Iris borer that loves all of that decayed stuff and will ruin iris if you let them get a head start....There is a new spray out that you spray on them when they first start growing in the spring that is suppose to kill them so i am going to get some of that to have for next spring....they really make the leaves look ugly with brown spots and eventually the whole iris will be just brown and then rot. You can dig them all up in the fall and cut all the leaves back down to about 3 inches tall and get rid of any of the rizome that is mushy and dip the whole thing in a solution of bleach and water....but my lord for me to have to dig everyone of my iris up and do that would be about a 4 man job for a couple of days.
then you still have no guarentee that they arent in the ground and the process starts all over. so im going to go the route of the chemical in the spring and hopefully it will get rid of them....when i give iris away from an area that has these in the bed , i always do the clean up thing like i just told you. that way it isnt transported to that persons house. lol
anyway that is our hortocultural lesson for today
Like i said i didnt do much yesterday just piddled. doing little things that fit my burst of energy...I planted my new Rose bush that my son and his wife gave me....and i sat down and ordered the stuff i wanted from Parks that my other daughters gift certificate provided. I loved that gift certificate but i was busy trying to find things i wanted , when you want one of everything you see it is hard to make a decision lol
Have to go to work today and then dont work again till Monday (that day shift) it is sort of scaring me i know i cant keep up with them on that shift dont know why i agreeded...but it will be on the unit and the best Aide in the whole building will be there on the unit so i dont have to worry about that part ....she is fantastic. and if i get in trouble the DON has told me to just call her and she would come and help ....great DON... most of them that i worked for were nothing like that.
well im rambling this morning lol talk to you all later. got to wash some clothes and make out a gro list for Joe to get after he takes me to work lol ...make him go buy all of it. and put it away , oh well will keep him out of trouble ....im sure he will just love me for that. i know he will say why cant we get them tomorrow ...lol (cause i dont want to ) shhhh dont tell him that.

I should have gone home instead of wasting my time at the meeting. The exercise guru was the speaker and I don't care for her at all, maybe because exercise isn't what my life revolves around. She talked about walking and the proper way to walk. Two women monopolized the class. I didn't get anything out of it. Next month is about co-morbidities and the effect on you. Why would I go to that. I had several CMs but have none now. That seems to be a topic you would cover with pre-ops. So, I was really disappointed in the group.
My husband doesn't mind going to the store but he buys too much. He doesn't stick to my list.

Where's everybody at? I had to work today and left DH at home with strickt instructions to make an appointment with his cardiologist. Got one for next week, with directions to increase his lasix and K-chlor. I guess they want to do some blood work after some of the swelling and bloating go down.
Haven't drivin by myself in a long time and really liked it. He's a terrible back seat driver, sometimes I wish he were in the back seat so I could tune him out. Don't know why they call old women the b........ word, I have heard some old men hold thier own.
I am feeling really good, kind of waiting for the honeymoon to end. Wendy did say that some WLS patients don't have any problems and I may be one of those. Keep your fingers crossed.
Jan~I was in Hollister this morning and thought about you but had to get back to Springfield. Glad I did cause they had another delivery for me in El Dorado Springs, so ended up having a pretty good work day.
Jo~It's too bad you feel that way about your meeting, maybe you should step up and suggest the topics. Personally I think you are right about co-morbidity being something for people thinking about WLS.
Well need to get off here and get ready for bed, have a delivery to do early tomorrow. Hope to see lots of people at the meeting tomorrow night.
I am one of those people that never had any trouble at all after surgery ....there are a lot of us out there. lol ...you dont have to have problems just because you had wls. ...how are your protein shakes tasting to you? i never noticed any difference in taste in them but some other foods i did.
are you off all your pain meds from surgery? you havent said anything about them...i hope so since you are out there driving. lol

I've been very busy today. Spent the day grocery shopping. I HATE grocery shopping! Luke came home tonight. He's officially a sophomore in college now! That's the main reason I went grocery shopping...had almost forgotten how much it cost to feed TWO teenage boys! I actually wrote out a menu and the shopping list. Hadn't done that in awhile. I shouldn't have to go back to the grocery store for at least 2, maybe 3, weeks, except for maybe bread and milk.
We had horrible weather last night! I stayed up until 1:30 am watching "The Green Dolphin" and old b/w movie with Lana Turner in it. The power did surge a couple times but came right back on. I found out this morning that most of Gardner was without power last night. On the other side of town they believe either a small tornado or a micro burst hit several homes. Beautiful Bec saw it on Channel 5 news and called me to make sure we were okay. I had just seen it a few minutes before she did. I'm going to drive across town and take a look at it tomorrow. Thankfully, no one was injured!
I'm subbing tomorrow for a 4th grade class. Then subbing next Monday and Tuesday. Only have a couple more weeks before school is out and we could use the extra money.
Please keep praying about David's job. He's suppose to be hired on as a W2 employee around June 1st. Our COBRA runs out 5/31/10! We're looking into short term temporary medical coverage...it's all so expensive! We continue to trust the Lord to take care of us. He has been so faithful to our family!
Mama Jan - I did my annual flower "planting" last week. Went to Enright's Nursery and bought a hanging basket of red, white and blue petunias and another hanging basket of Picasso hanging geraniums - the blooms are light pink/white with dark pink tips. Also bought some Gerber Daisies and other flowers to plant in my two containers on my front stoop. One of them was called some type of spoon flower because the petals look like spoons. I just noticed it had bloomed. I'll try to take a picture of it and post it. They are beautiful! I even noticed where I had planted some type of flower under my front tree a couple years ago and it has multiplied and even blooming! It has very tiny white bell like flowers on it. I need to take a picture of it and post it so you can tell me what it is. I was sooo excited because I have never planted anything and it lived and multiplied! lol!!
Jeanie Rae - Glad you're doing so well! I know exactly what you're saying about men. My husband can talk more than any woman I know! Honestly, sometimes he and his buddies sound like a bunch of old women! lol!
Lovely Lana - so glad you're back and that your surgery went well! We were getting worried about you! Just take it easy and follow your doctor's orders and take care of yourself!!
Jo - Glad you guys didn't get much bad weather last night. It was really bad here last night and it's really just the beginning of tornado weather...
MO Peeps - hope each and everyone of you have a GREAT Friday! Hope to "hear" from all of you soon!

had to laugh at you and your flowers....the flower sounds like lily of the valley? buy some daffodils to plant this fall and you cant fail with them...they are the pretty yellow flowers that bloom in the spring.
will keep David in prayer for his permanate job...i know it is a necessaity. and God does too.
so glad that you all were safe from those storms.
