Well, I finally called the hospital on sunday eve, I just couldn't understand why I have been in so much PAIN , it seems like everything i've read about the procedure, it shouldn't be too painful, most people go home same or next day!!  I was given 2 percocets, and  1 valium to take every 4 hr.s (valium every 8 ), one. extended release oxycontin(to take every 12 hr.s), and a benadryl (for my itching), AND promethazine (anti nausea)...all of that and I am still being a baby with the pain. I got worried because of the pain and my JP drains (3 of them) were starting to have a yellow tint instead of red bloody....ANYHOW one of the K.U plastic surgery residents (who with 2 others "assisted" with my surgery) called me back and explained the yellowing was good, that was normal and meant it was healing...oh good and the "pain was to be expected with a full tummy tuck"   WHAT?!  I was supposed to be getting a panniculectomy, that's all the ins. will pay for i said. He just laughed and said Dr Ponnuru did some "extras" BLESS THAT MAN!!! I mean it now  makes sense, below my belly button (which he moved) there is basically just smooth flat skin, I haven't looked like that since....well I never have lol. he even took care of my "hanging groin" it now looks like a thin persons, he had to of lipo'ed that amongst other things. I feel so blessed , I would of been happy with just the panni, since that was the worst, and embarrassing, alway's looking for extra long tops to cover it. My Gosh I have never heard of a plastic surgeon doing so much extra!! Thank you God. that is  one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. God bless everyone and I am so happy to be able to share such a nice story for once.   Susan a

That makes me feel better about my upcoming surgery. It sounds like they treated you very well and did a great job. I am sorry you are in pain but it sounds like its really gonna be worth it.

I am so happy that you are pleased. Altho I was happy with Dr. Ponnuru, sometimes you wonder when you recommend someone. Yes, it will be painful if they did any muscle repair especially. I am 5 months out and still have some pain at times. He told me it would be up to 18 months before it was "normal" again. Just be patient and wear your garment! It is important once you get it, it is what will make you heal correctly.

Did you wear the binder immedietly? He told me not to put it on until after my 1st check up ( on(thursday. Also , did you have drains/ when did they take them out , and how painful? I sound like the worlds biggest baby I know, but I just fell UP the stairs on my way to the computer, funny thing, my husband TOLD me to go back to bed this morning when he left for work, and wanted to watch me go.....funny I guess I should of listened lol.....love and hugs Susan a.

He does not want you to wear the binder until the drains come out. He won't take them out until you are  putting out about 10 cc per day. (i think) If you are not keeping track of how much the drains are putting out, make sure you do that. It took about 2-3 weeks before they came out. It wasn't bad to get them out. Don't worry about that. Be careful but try to walk some. It is a painful surgery. Probably my most painful surgery I have ever had. Hang in there as you know it is already worth it.

OH I know I've been keeping track of the output it's running between 10 -20 cc per drain, so I think it's pretty good. I haven't been "out" walking much, the drains are too ugly lol, but I have stairs (steep) and I am up and down them all day long, even fell UP them this morning...thought I would die it hurt so bad, I landed right on my stomach. I had no idea what to expect, I know a panni isn't supposed to be all that painful, but is it worth it YOU BET! HUGS, SUSAN A
