Joshua’s final words to the people were harsh but very true.  They knew that all they had to do was continue serving the Lord and worshiping only Him and the rest of their days would be filled with blessing upon blessings but if they stopped they Lord would not protect them any longer, they would be under the curse and would be devoured by the enemy.  That’s sort of like us today, when we obey the Lord, keep His commandments in our hearts, do what He has taught us then we will flow in the milk and honey blessings of our lives.  The Lord is so gracious and kind to keep us safe and blessed but you know if we stop and start disobeying Him and His word our lives will be changed and the blessings stopped but unlike them, we have a Savior we can run to and ask forgiveness and He will helps us get back on the right track, if that makes any sense.  I’ve been there for sure, stopped doing what I was supposed to be doing, stopped obeying the rules of the surgery and looked what happened, I stopped flowing in the milk and honey, stopped losing weight and even gained, but Praise God I was able to turn around, ask forgiveness and move forward.  Its like that for all of us with any situation you might face.  Thank goodness we don’t have to build an altar but all we have to do is get on our knee’s and ask Him for His help and He will be right there with us every step of the way.  Wow, what a mighty and awesome God we really do serve.

Today’s Reading

Joshua 22:21-23:16
Luke 20:27-47
Psalm 89:14-37
Proverbs 13:17-19

Daily Devotional

"But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself,so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God"
(Proverbs 4:18, NIV)

Sometimes it's easy to become so goal-oriented and so focused on our dreams that we overlook the simple things that we should be enjoying in our everyday life. But we have to remember that life is not really about the destination, it's about how we live all along the way. It's about the path we're on that shines brighter and brighter.

In this life, there is no such thing as a finish line. Once you accomplish one dream, God will give you another. When you overcome one challenge, there will be another. There is always another mountain to climb. If we make the mistake of just living for the destination, we'll look up one day and realize we've missed out on the biggest part of life because most of life is routine. Most of us get up every morning, go to work, come home, eat dinner, go to bed and do it again. There are very few mountaintops where you graduate from school, or you get married, or have a child, or go on vacation. The high times are few and far between. Don't get stuck living for the mountaintops. Learn to enjoy the path you're on. Learn to enjoy the people in your life. Learn to enjoy the simple blessings of walking in the path the Lord has prepared for you.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, thank You for the gift of life. Thank You for the good plan You have for me today and for my future. Teach me to enjoy the journey of life, to embrace each day with joy and enthusiasm. Help me to see the blessings of every moment You have given me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Andy:

Just wanted to say "Thank You" for posting this thread each day!  I've made one of my goals this year to read the Bible Thru in a Year.  I went and bought one of those bibles arranged in that order so it would help me to follow along.  The Word is so important to our spiritual health and I know my day goes so much better if I spend time in the Word!  Your daily thread give me so much inspiration and I thank you for that!

Debbie,

I'm so happy you are blessed by the thread, it thrills me when someone strives to spend time in the Word.  You are so right, our daily lives go so much better each day if we've spent time in the Word, God just loves it when He is able to speak to our hearts through His Word.  I know my daily life goes much better when I spend time with Him, He always rewards those who diligently seek Him.

Have a blessed day!

Andy
