WHATS HAPPENING SUNDAY

Good Morning Looks like it is going to be another beautiful day although yesterday was a little on the chilly side for me. And looks like today will be too. Before surgery these days would have been the hottest I liked it but now I have to wear long sleeves even when im outside working lol …funny how we change. I use to sweat in the winter if it got above 65 …now I freeze at that temp.

Welcome to all the newbies that have been showing up on the board…I think I have responded to each of you but if not im sorry and this is your official welcome ….you have to forgive an old woman. Lol..please.

I have to work today again, it is getting to where I hate going to work so I guess it is about time to quit again, it is interfering with my playing in the garden. I had every intention of paying off some bills when I started but I keep finding things I just have to have for the garden , oh my….that is a shame. I haven’t made much of a dent in the bills.

All of my iris have huge buds on them so they should be opening in the next week , I love my iris, and then next will come the lilies. They have increased beyond measure this past year. As have the iris. Both will need to be thinned out and replanted this fall. If anyone has a desire for some they need to come down when they are in bloom and bring a colored  skien of yarn….we will tie a piece aroue base of what you want and will write it down in my book then when I go to transplant will give you some of them….I know my daylilies need thinning, especially the double salmon colored ones. They are getting way too thick….

We had a wonderful time with our Granddaughter Kim and her two little ones. They are 3 and 4 now. Cute ages…we ran and played. They love the pathways in my gardens. They call them a maze.  They also love the ponds but we really have to watch them they get to watching the tadpoles so closely that they almost tumble over into the ponds several times. I have lots of colored marbles in my pathways scattered around, kids love picking them up and gathering them on the porch….then I have to scatter them back out when they go home. But it is worth it they have such fun finding them. And if they lack something to do we just say lets see who can find the most blue marbles in MIMIs pathways….that takes care of them for quite a while lol

SUSAN::: will see you at work in a while I work today and then off Monday and work again on Tuesday. I may see if I can get someone to work for me Tuesday lol …it sure isn’t any fun any more or wont be after Tuesday im sure….will see you today. I think im l working front charge….

JO:::: we too are rethinking the selling and moving, would just like to sell the rental house, and the one lot. I would hate like crazy to go off and leave all my flowers. I have most of it like I like it ,will always be adding more but it wouldn’t be the same to have just a small plot to put stuff on. I wouldn’t know what to put on a small flower bed lol ….

BEC:::sounds like you are going to be busy for the next few days getting things planted. I have got to go and get some pine mulch and candian cypress mulch to mound up on my Azaleas that I bought. But first I have to get the Bermuda grass out of the area that I am going to plant them….where I am thinking about may not require a lot of de grassing tho cause they don’t like rich dirt. Up front around the dogwoods may be a great place for them…they like sun in the mornings and shade in the afternoons so that would be a good place for them.

Wish I had been there for the Blackberry plants sure don’t want 10 of them tho. They say if they do well one plant will make about 30 quarts. That is a lot of blackberries  wonder if he would ship me a couple of plants. That is a great price for them …are they good looking roots

SUSIE:::: sounds like you had a great time on the beach. Even if it was a little cool…just walking along probably gave you some time you needed.

Glad you had a good start to the new support group in your area. Hope it grows and grows.

JEANIE::::: you are more than welcome anytime to come down to see my yard. Just holler so I can let you know if I am off work ok?

Wow a buzzard thru his windshield? That must have been scary for him. I know it would have been for me. Yeah usually they get out of the way but I have almost ran into them at times too , the greedy ones that don’t want to leave their meal. Lol

Sounds like you have the granmothering down pat lol ….spoil them and send them home …that is what we are for. Let them know that if you need or want anything Grandma has it you are welcome to it. .

Well got to get busy ….post away will try to answer you all when I get home tonight or before I go to work if you have posted by then.  Love and hugs to all.

Hi Mimi... I got the blackberries at Sutherlands.... it's like a Lowe's.  The plants were not roots they are nice size plants in  gallon pots... for 3.20... that's why I was so excited!  I was going to have to pay 3.50 for just roots at the other place.... oh such a deal I got... I can't imagine one plant making 30 quarts but it sure would be nice!  Wish I had a flash freezer like you have. Makes the frozen things so much nicer.... especially sugar snap peas... I just have not been able to freeze them and have them come back out very good at all... I LOVE sugar snap peas and you do not have to count them as a starch either.  Yum!

Do you know anything about blue berry bushes?  That's next on the agenda if they would do good around here?

Got's loads and loads of stuffs to do outside today so better get on busy with it all.... hope your day at work is not a bad one.

A little chilly this morning but it's warming up.  I am a commissioned Stephan Minister.  What a relief to be finished with the training.  No more Sunday evening classes.

Bec is o excited about her gardening buys.  Well, I got some good buys too.  Jo Ann's was having a 50% off sale so I got enough for 3 tops for $20.  Next Saturday I'm going to get plants for the flower garden under the living room window.  I'm actually going to plant whatever I get.  I want it so full of flowers  you can't see the ground.  I've been trying to get this going for 3 years and now I'm taking over.  I even bought a pair of gardening clogs.

Didn't get to bake cookies with the kids yesterday.  I took too much time looking around in Jo Ann's.  I thought the Walmart close by Jo Ann's was a super store so I was going to get everything there.  It isn't so I stopped at Walgreens and got some ice cream treats and bubble gum.

The kids went to sleep about 4:00 and I spent the afternoon reading.  Very relaxing.  These 2 kids are well behaved and such a joy to be around.

I have to do some grocery shopping this afternoon.  We're having grilled steak this evening.   Max thinks he has to have a potato with his steak so I'm bake him one.  I might have a sweet potato.  The steak will fill me up.

I took off 4 lbs. I had put on a couple weeks ago.  Those nasty carbs have been sent on their way.   Can you imaging how much I would weigh if I followed my dietician's advice and ate 600 calories in carbs a day.  Wish I could!!

JO::::: sounds like you did get some good buys too.....
Hope you can find the sort of flowers you want to put in the bed under the living room window.  know that some will really spread and so wont do that too much. Im sure you will find plenty of what you want.
Congrats on now being a Stephen Minister. and also on the 4 pounds gone. that is great loil i can just imagine on the 600 calories and all of that being carbs. that would be over 50 percent of food eaten would be carbs. cause 1200 calories is tops in calories for anyone that isnt needing to lose any ....i think it would be a little much for sure.
