Hello Everyone,
My name is Cheryl (some of you will know me as Jeannie's friend). I have been lurking around here for a while and wanted to introduce myself. I am 4 week out from my RNY and have been doing real well until today, my tummy is very upset today. Anyway...tomorrow will be better.
I am the mother to 3 children, a son in college, a son who is a junior in HS and a daughter who is in the 7th grade. I work for my church as the office secretary and I love my job. My husband is a school teacher and a wonderful supporter for me. I am a two time cancer survivor and busy right now with the Relay for Life on top of spring sports for the kids and exercise and church and.......
I am trying really hard to be successful with my surgery and appreciate your friendship!
Have a beautiful day!!!

Welcome Cheryl, Sounds like you are one busy lady!!  I am a mother to 6, my youngest is in college, my oldest is 27 with 3 children of his own, so sometimes I am pretty busy also! I am 2 yr.s out and have lost (since before my surgery) 185 lb.s total . I think when you start out bigger you lose weight faster than those who arent. The time really flies by . You said your tummy was upset? at 4 wk.s out you shouldn't really be putting much in there yet. unless your like me, at first the vitamins ,and protein drinks made me nauseated, I hated them, but gradually I was able to try differen't kinds and adjusted. One piece of advice I can give you from experience. Right now your body should be De-carbed, and you should not be craving your "bad habit" foods at all. However, once you start trying a taste here and there, you will bring those demons back to life, and start struggling once again (i do everyday) for the first year I didn't touch anything with real sugar at all (sweets are my downfall) then a taste here and there.....now my brain and tastebuds wants that suger high all the time.  STAY AWAY FROM THEM! much love and success to you, Susan A

Welcome to our world!!  I'm almost 2 years out and have had no problems.  I've lost about 70 lbs. and need to lose another 20 but can't seem to get it moving.  Exercise is hinders my weight loss.  When I first joined this board I wondered why people were talking about joining Weigh****chers or some other weight loss plan.  Why would that be necessary after you had WLS.  Well, now I know.  The first year I had no cravings and the weight came off easily.  Once I hit the one year mark, I began to get a little careless, tasting this and that.  I always make sure I get my protein in daily.  I don't eat much at meals, about 2-3 oz. of protein fills me up; however, snacking was becoming a problem.  I can graze a lot without feeling full so I have stopped that.

I usually write down my food for the day and spread it out over the day.  The best thing you can do is avoid carbs.  Good carbs are good but carbs make me hungry.  I'm trying to keep my daily carbs to 60 or less.

Sounds like you are very busy.  Being a cancer survivor twice makes you a star.  Good luck with your WLS.

Hi Lady,

Good to see you post here, this is a great place to come for almost anything you are experiencing. I wasn't aware you are a cancer survivor, Kudos to you. I am so glad we met, if you need to just talk to someone call me, we have been working a little more but I am home most evenings.

I know you are going to be successful, and am keeping you in my prayers.

Thanks to everyone for the welcomes and the advice. I am sick again today. I am waking up nauseous and then throwing up, that makes my tummy sore and irritable all day so the food train has come to a stop and I am back to liquids. I was ready for soft foods this week but they will have to wait.
I am also afraid I may have made a mistake. I am drinking fruit flavored protein drinks and started putting them in Special K protein water. It only has 6 grams of sugar but maybe it is too much. I'll lay off of them and see if it helps.
I sure don't like feeling sickly all the time!!! any and all advice is welcomed!!!

I had a bout of the sicklies shortly after surgery also , try to get your protein water in something not sweet, or try crystal light, I couldn't tolerate any kind of sweet for awhile, also make sure you do not try to lie down for at least 90 min. after you've put something in your tummy. It will pass, your body is still adjusting. good luck, susan
