WHATS HAPPENING WEDNESDAY

Hello to all. I'm very sad for our country right now. I am so frightened that 219 people voted some-thing into law that 65% of the people didn't want. It isn't right and it's nearly impossible to undo. Believe me, there is a reason they didn't give any time to review it after they voted and it is totally confusing to try to read it. One of the PhDs in my department here read the whole bill and he said some of it is clear and that part is scary and then there's the rest that is even scarier because it is written so that it can be interpreted any way the government wants. We are on a really slippery slope toward socialism in my opinion. I feel bad for the people who need help but forcing people to buy things they don't want is exactly like someone said - choosing a car for you - which might come sooner rather than later. I've always said that the folks who want to make everyone equal make it sound good except they are more equal than anyone else. It's like you can afford a new Honda Accord and your neighbor who chooses not to work and who eats out all the time and burns lights all night can only have a Honda Civic so that's all you can have too so you can help pay for his stuff. Don't like government interferring in my choices - they're mine, right or wrong, I'm the one who lives with them. I hate this feeling of helplessness, like even praying for right decisions doesn't work. I agree with you Jan - have anything you want fixed that Medicare will pay for done right now because I don't trust that it won't be taken apart really soon. My hubby has a Medicare Advantage plan and I think the only reason they want to do away with them is because the greedy DC politicians want to try to keep them from making any profit. He loves his Cox Health Care plan - gets excellent care and his co-payments aren't too bad. It probably costs more than if he had straight Medicare but it's really good care. I'm afraid good doctors will retire or quit accepting Medicare if they lower their reimbursement. I'm just plain afraid - can you tell?
Hugs and prayers for our country.

jan,
This is the 3rd time I signed on here and each time I thought no dont open a can of worms.  But I am going to sa what is on my mind.  First of all, dont worry, they are not cutting out medicaire.  I agree, I am sick at the outcome on Healthcare Planl.  Maybe because it is close to my heart and having worked in medical profession for 20 years plus!!!! I have seen such fraud in medicaire and medicaid.  Yes, we need it changed but not the way its going to be changed.  Ok now my pet peeve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I personally think they should scrap the medicaid program to bare minimum.  Before anyone gets mad - just read.  I have seen so much misuse of food stams and eligibiliy with this plan.  I personally know of someone who has 20,0000 + in savings plan and got approved for medicaide.l  How do they get this????  Lying and that is the way and the state does not check.  I have worked with people  who have baby after baby and qualify for all kinds of freebies.(need I say they are unmarried- I am still from the old school and believe the Lord wants marriage)
I also have a friend who has been on disability for years because he had a bad back but he could do repairs for people like building walls and working under cars and rode a motorcycle all the time.  Do they just approve them year after year?  Also some neighbors of my sisters, wont work and collect all this and trade food stams for drugs.  This is a fact!!!!  They told my b-i-l  this.
I have seen fraud in the medical field too and was glad when they clamped down on some of it about 12 years ago.  Why are they going to increase Medicaid?????   It is a good help for the needy and I do not begrudge people.  'But when I was over 67 working and saw the heights of laziness on some people and the freebies it sorta made me furious.l   Had to keep my mouth shut many times.  And now I am on Medicaire and we pay 94.00 a month each plus 594.00 for secondary insurance  and we drive a 1997 ford truck and 2003 saturn.  Its about time some of the others pay insurance too.  they still get the same care so they should have to pay according to their income.  Sad thing I dont know what they will do with the people who have legitimate reasons to be on medicaire and medicaid.

Hope I didnt upset too many and If I did I am sorry..  Just speaking my personal feelings-Colette

Colette;

Don't worry about speaking your mind on this board...that is what I love about the Missouri Board. I have never seen anyone get in trouble for speaking their mind. We all understand, we each have our own views and we don't always agree but, no one has ever made anyone feel bad because of it.

Hugs

I tried to read the bill and its a lot of doublespeak so it is very hard to understand. One thing is for sure the prices on everything will be going up. When all the places have to insure even part time people they will be letting more people go and raising prices. I think things are going to get a lot worse before we see any improvement. It is a sad time for our country for sure. I do hope I am wrong but it doesn't look good.
Yes Jan the doc is redoing my eyes for free but in his office and not the hospital. I would have to pay extra for the hospital. I am not going to be put to sleep. I will let you know if I am crazy after its over.

Another wonderful day here and no rain yet. I hope this keeps up I am loving this weather. I hear its gonna get cold again this weekend maybe. Hope not.
Susan I bet I won't even know who you are next time I see you. Are you still losing?

Lou, I know you are busy and I am sorry about your fur baby.

Have a wonderful evening everyone.

Im sorry but I have to get in on this discussion about the Health Care bill that just passed......
to Collete....I sooo much agree with you....day after day I see someone else abusing the system....but yet there are others that cant get the help that they truely need......Im so sick of people that are able to work...milk the system...just to stay hope....when some of us work or butts off day after day!! I personally think that its a good thing for the bill to pass....maybe now some of the riff raff will not be raking in the goods...and maybe have to work for what they have....
The same goes for the medical side as well.....people wont get married because the lose the gravy train if they do...so instead they just keep haveing kids after kids....couldnt tell ya how many times im a grandma!!!! Hell Im the one supporting them.....!! Then there are the ones that milk the system for so called medical needs....they wouldnt be so needy if they had to pay for it them selfs....or get insurance like the rest of us have had to do....
Ok off my soap box....Just happy as hell the bill passed!!!
Hugs....

I agree with you, the people who have to purchase insurance..it's going to based on income...same as fines..they are to based on income too! you don't see people hollering to much about mandated car ins.  it's the same thing, if you don't have ins....eventually you will have to go to the dr, and then who pays when you are forced to use the ER? everyone. we are paynig for it one way or another anyway right?
