it isnt the best  weather in the world out there this morning but at least
where we are it didnt snow.and they keep changing the forcast for the better. so get thru today and hopefully it will be better tomorrow. maybe i can get some of the garden planted tuesday when i am off work again.

Last night at work they had me on the front hall meds again. that big ole med cart just about kicks my butt on pushing it.i always come home after working that  hurting up between my shoulders. and that always makes my fingers go numb when i try to type and i cant for the life of me make my words spell right. i have to use the spell checker on it always. lol

well the three ladies that are very sick ladies are still there and not any worse than they were.

night before last i slept 12 hours and tonight i only slept about 4 hours. guess i got my sleep out on that 12 hours. i never sleep more than about 6 hours ever. dont know what happened for me to sleep that well .

got some more plants in the mail yesterday from one of my mail order catalogs.  Any way too early to put in the ground so will transplant them into some of the bigger pots and keep them nice and toasty.

got to go this morning it is still really early and im starting to get sleepy again so maybe i can get in a couple of more hours...
so lets talk , post away and let me know what happened in your world yesterday and what you have planed for today.

Just sent hubby off for another 12 hour shift to clear the state roads. Drifts are really big here, we must have about 10-12 inches. Drifts were stopping Fedx trucks, they were getting stuck in the middle of the county roads. Me, I am snuggled in with the Chihuahua all warm and cuddly. Hope everyone is safe.

Oh my, where to start.  I am sitting at my desk, in MY house, at MY computer (thank you LORD).....

Our saga started on Friday evening.  As soon as Mike got off at the cab place 10:30 ish we had to get JO (our daughter) and make a flying trip to Kansas City to the airport.  Her boyfriend had sent her round trip airline tickets to visit him in Boston for spring break.  God love him, he thought that KC was closer to us than St. Louis.  Mental note:  Kyle.. look at the map...it is twice as far!

Her flight was supposed to leave at 5:40 a.m. but we knew that the weather was supposed to get a little dicey so we left early....  as the drive is 3+ hours and you are supposed to be there 1 hour before your flight.

All was fine and dandy.... cruising along til we hit the Lafayette county line.  Then all hell broke loose.  Ice, snow, ice, snow, blinding winds with MORE snow snow snow... it was like a blizzard.  LITERALLY.

Mike's top speed was now reduced to 25 at best, sometimes slower.  Not a highway truck in sight, we creeped along.  I don't know how many slide off's and accidents we saw,  It was horrible white knuckle type of driving as the conditions were so bad.  There were many times that we almost found ourselves in the ditch. But we got her there.  Thank goodness we left so early as we pulled into the terminal parked at 4:50 a.m..

Got her checked in and we stayed there as the gate attendant said that it might be postponed or delayed due to the massive amt. of snow that was received in such a short period of time.  We stayed til they boarded and I hurriedly sent off one last text message to her before she had to shut her phone off.

Mike and I leave to head to my sisters in Olathe to crash so we could sleep.  We have now both been up for over 24 hours straight and we are beyond exhausted.  No sooner get out of the airport proper than I get a text from Jo, they are still sitting there.  Delayed due to them having to blade the runway off again.  We sit and text back and forth for another 30 minutes until they are finally cleared for takeoff so she finally gets on her way...albeit over 30+ minutes delayed.

Did I mention that the snow is still coming down in gales.  Total blizzard... a trip that should take 30-45 minutes max to get to my sis's house takes well over 2 hours.  More accidents and slide off's along the way.  We get to the house and crash and sleep the sleep of the dead.

Get up, grab something to eat and look outside.  Unfreakingbelievable.  We find ourselves getting ready to head back home in ROUND TWO OF THE NASTINESS.  Yes, that is right, we are driving home in it.

This time it was worse as there were more drivers out in it...  accidents everywhere, blizzard white out... snow drifts, we saw only one snow plow on the highway the entire time between KC and Jeff City...   a drive that  normally takes 2 1/2 - 3 hours tops ends up taking us over 7 hours.  It would of taken longer but thankfully we finally got out of the snow right before we hit Jefferson City.  From there it was just torrential rains (which beats a blizzard but not by much!)... at least we were able to drive faster.....

Whew....  poor Mike, he is an excellent driver but he was just worn out ... it is physically, mentally tough to drive that many hours in that bad of weather....  but he did it and I am so thankful.

Hope that most of you did not get this...seems that down in our area they got rain (BE THANKFUL!)... but up north...ohhhhhhhhhh baby.....

Home, thankful and happy... waiting for my hardboiled eggs to finish... just fed the kitties and the doggies...and I think I am going to start some laundry.....

Pixie;

I am so sorry your trip was so terrible. What highway was you traveling on? Just curious...not trying to make excuses for the MoDot where you were but, here near Harrisonville, everyone had to stay on like 71 and all major roadways and all the smaller roads just piled up. When hubby was called to work at 5am this morning he was told what highways to take so he could get to work. All staff was on major roads last night so, hubby gets to do the smaller roads today. Not fun...So glad you made it home safe and daughter is away from all this.

 Barb....

Going up we went 28 to Jeff ...over to Columbia and then from Columbia to KC....  once in KC it was 435 to the airport and we never saw one Highway truck...but then again it was 3-4 a.m. but boy was it bad...

on the way back we took 50 to Jeff...thinking that maybe the state trucks would be more in force there and less traffic to have to deal with .... we were wrong...  no trucks ... lots of accidents...

Man was it bad... tell your DH thank you , even though we never saw a truck I'm sure he was up to high eyeballs in the stuff!
