My surgeon is one that requires the 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery  and I am on day 4.  I'm having a hard time getting enough protein and as a result by the early afternoon I am very hungry.  Can anyone offer any suggestions on what they did or what product they could recommend that doesn't taste like butt (sorry but my whey w/water just tastes horrible).

I got on here and posted every time  I got too hungry. It really helps to divert your attention. Day five and eight were the hardest for me. I strained chicken noodle soup instead of having plain broth and it tasted better. Sugar free Popsicle's are good. You can make it and it will be worth it. For me the two weeks prior to surgery were the hardest. It will get easier.

Hi there, I remember liquid diet only too well!!! for me I just filled up on s/f jello and followed it up with the chicken or beef broth, the first few days then the last 2 day's were the hardest, but you WILL get through it, try to keep whatever your free foods are handy while watching tv or reading...at least those were the times hardest for me. I use "premier protein" shakes from costco, they are the best tasting I have ever found, they come in a 18 pack chocolate and seriously taste really really good kind of like a yoohoo, 30 g of protein and 2 or 3 carbs , only downsize is it's kind of expensive 23.99 for the 18 pk.    good luck , Susan

Been there, done that!!  I will never forget that 2 weeks but it was so worth it.  My doctor allowed me to have milk so I mixed 1 or 2 shakes with milk.  I used vanilla in orange Crystal Lite.  I worked the first week so my co-workers kept me going.

SF Jello and SF popcicles never tasted so good.  GNC has a choclate carmel flavor I like.  Try freezing a shake then eat with a spoon.  I too love the Isopure protein powder.  GNC also has Isopure drinks.  I don't care for them, but you might try them.  Some people love them.

You can do this.  Keep your eye on the prize.  When you're shopping in the Misses department or see yourself in the mirrow after losing the weight, you will be so proud of yourself.

Hi

For my preop I used Slimfast Low carb drinks and they weren't that bad. The chocolate flavor tasted the best to me, but everyone taste is different. Now I use the GNC 100% whey protein, the unflavored brand and I mix it with a pack of SF Chocolate mix (like swiss miss) I mix about 6oz of ho****er and the protein and mix. I can't even taste or smell the protein and it taste like a hot chocolate drink. You will just have to experiment because after surgery your taste will really change. Good luck on your journey. Its a life saver...

Thank you to everyone for all of the posts. I knew if I got on here that you all would help me out.  I am a little apprehensive about the surgery and just want to make sure I do everything on my part to make sure it is a success.
