God orders Moses, in the wilderness of Sinai, to take the number of those able to bear arms—of all the men "from twenty years old and upward," the tribe of Levi being excepted, and to appoint princes over each tribe. The result of the numbering is that 603,550 Israelites are found to be fit for military service. Moses is ordered to assign to the Levites exclusively the service of the Tabernacle. Moses is ordered to consecrate the Levites for the service of the Tabernacle in the place of the first-born sons, who hitherto had performed that service. The Levites are divided into three families, the Gershonites, the Kohathites, and the Merarites, each under a chief, and all headed by one prince, Eleazar, son of Aaron.

The Levites who are suited for the service of the Tabernacle—those from thirty to fifty years of age—were then numbered.

Preparations are then made for resuming the march to the Promised Land. Various ordinances and laws are decreed.

Can you imagine having to count 603,550 people one by one? Now that’s a job and a half.  I just thought I’d give an overview of Numbers to hopefully help some understand what the book is about.

I really liked Proverbs this morning. “When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone but the righteous stand firm forever" How many of us have gone through or are going through a storm now?  I think the majority of us can raise our hands to that one.  I love how we can stand firm in the Lord, don’t waver in the storm but let the Lord guide us exactly where in the storm we are going and it is promised that we will stand firm forever.  Now that’s a promise I want in my life.  Especially in our wls journeys if we will stand firm and do what we are suppose to we will make it through with the Lords help with no problems.

Daily Devotional

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16

Christ refers to the Anointed One and His Anointing. That is the Gospel, or deliverance to everyone who believes. Notice it says that the Gospel is the power for deliverance, but only for a certain class of people: those who believe. Are there aspects of the Gospel you don't believe, about which you are not fully persuaded or fully convinced enough to rely totally on God? If so, then you won't have deliverance in that area. It doesn't mean that there is a lack of the power to deliver, but a lack of what activates the power. The believing is what activates the deliverance. You can have total deliverance financially and still be totally sick. You can strongly believe in God for healing, leaving the devil unable to touch your body, yet be poor financially. The power of the Gospel is manifested in you to the extent that you believe in each area of good news. No wonder Jesus often said, "Be it unto you, as you believe" (Matthew 8:13; 9:29; 15:28).

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (Acts 10:38)

There was no lacking of anointing on Jesus; He was always completely anointed. Yet people received different manifestations with Jesus, even though He had the anointing without measure. The manifestation of the anointing in each person's life was based on the extent to which he believed, and then acted on that belief. You must look inside yourself to determine where you are strong in faith and where you are weak. You should spend a little extra time in those areas you find lacking, so that you can see the anointing work in every area of your life.

Prayer for Today

Father,
I believe You want me victorious and delivered in every area of life. With my faith, I open the door for Your anointing, for Your power to flood my life causing victory everywhere, in every way, every day. In Jesus' Name, Amen!

I Corinthians 15:57 - But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
