In reading in Matthew it really struck me how it had already been told in the old testament of how the Christ would be taken and beaten crucified and exactly how and when it would be done. In Matt. 26:52 Jesus told his companions that reached for their sword to put it back, that he knew the scriptures had to be fulfilled, He could of called upon His Father to send 12 legions of angels to help him but he knew that the scriptures must be fulfilled and it had to be done in the way it was happening.

I looked up how many 12 legions is.  A legion was approximately 6,000 soldiers. So…we’re looking at 72,000 angels that are at the command of Christ.  Thus, an army of 72,000 angels is perfectly capable of wiping out well over 5 billion people in the same amount of time. The earth currently holds a little over 6 billion. He could of wiped out the whole population of the earth, but He chose not to.

So, the message to the disciples in the garden of Gethsemane was, “Do not think you are being courageous in fighting for me, and do not pity me. I have a heavenly army at my disposal that can slaughter an Earth-full of oppressors in a matter of days."

It becomes all the more real that Jesus embraced the cross himself. He was not forced upon it.  He could have given a command, and his oppressors would have looked up to see 72,000, angelic swords in mid-swing. Yet we are told that he humbled himself, even to the point of death on a cross (Phil. 2:8). He who knew no sin became sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:21). He put aside his power to command the mightiest and most lethal army in the universe, in order to die in the place of sinners.  If that’s doesn’t describe love then I don’t know what does.  Thank the Lord he gave his only son for us that we can have life and now that we have a 2nd chance so to speak at life, I’m going to do whatever it takes to get healthy and stay healthy.

Daily Devotional

"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things"
(Colossians 3:2, NIV)

Sometimes when people look toward the future, they don't see how they will ever rise higher or fulfill their destiny. That's because they are looking at things in the earthly, or natural, realm. But if we'll set our minds higher, if we'll set our minds on things above, we will have a different perspective.

The Scripture says in Second Corinthians that we walk by faith and not by sight. In other words, we have to believe it before we're ever going to see it.

When we set our minds higher, we walk by faith. We see things God's way. But when we walk by what we see in the natural realm, we can easily allow cir****tances and fear to keep us from moving forward.

Make the decision today to set your mind on things above. Focus on the good things God has in store. Be determined to close the door on fear and doubt and choose to listen to that inner prompting of the Holy Spirit. As you walk and live by faith, you'll see His promises come to pass, and you'll move forward into the destiny He has prepared for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, thank You for Your Word which lights the path You have for me. I choose today to keep my heart and mind focused on You. I choose to meditate on Your Word knowing that it feeds my faith and sets me in a position to receive every blessing You have in store for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Andy amen and amen....i too am going to do everything in my power thru God to get as healthy as i can and stay that way...i am determined to follow Jesus where ever he leads me ....i woke up this morning so sore from sleeping all night long in the same position and sit on the side of the bed feeling down and that phrase came :::: I am determined to follow Jesus, where ever he leads me....think i will call my son and tell him so he can be inspired and write a song....lol
we do that sometimes together....
any way got off point here. Yes i agree that God has given us a second chance and if we dont take it by trying to be all we can be then something might just be wrong with our relationship with God....notice i say might be everyone. When God gives us a chance like with the wls and then we dont follow the rules that are laid out for us BEFORE  we ever have surgery then we are wasting this great chance that was given to us. to repair this temple of Gods. (our bodies)..

I'm living proof that when we waste what God has given us then we struggle.  I wasted some of the early months of WLS by not following the rules like I was suppose to and as you can see at 3 1/2 yrs out I am still struggling.  I'm an over comer though and will get this weight off and get it off soon.  We just have to keep on following what we know to follow and obey God's word, we'll be more then over comers.
