WHATS HAPPENING TUESDAY 2-2-10

Oh boy last night at work was hard. I made it thru the night but it was 8 hours of straight work. I was so tired that I was sure glad that I had someone coming to get me at the end of the night. I worked the step down unit and it was full had 20 patients and did everything, gave meds, charged treatments and everything. Im still tired this morning and sore…if I had to work like that everyday I know I couldn’t do this at all. But since I only work once in a while it is good. And then to top it all off we had a lady from the pharmacy there to watch each one of us give meds. So that made me really nervous. But she said I was very good. And that I remembered to wash my hands after every patient which she hadn’t seen many nurses do in a while. Lol I said that was so ingrained into me when I studied to be a nurse that I don’t think I could help it if I tried. Cause back when I first went into nursing you didn’t get gloves…for anything…not anything. So you washed your hands a lot …so much so that I use to say you could always tell a nurse by how red and raw their hands were.

Last night while I was working my cell phone rang and when I answered I heard these little voices, giggling and whispering . And I kept saying Hello Hello finally I heard Mikaela say its Mimi, its mimi. Lol they had gotten hold of their mama cell phone and I guess pushed the button to recall the last call made which was me. Finally Kim came on the phone laughing saying I thought they were being awfully quite and then I heard them giggling and laughing I thought I better see what they were doing. Lol was cute and would have had a really good time with it if I hadn’t been working. Babies they do make our life good don’t they?

BEC:::::: im like Jo you make me tired with all that exercise. Good grief if I did all of that or even half of that I would be so much thinner I know, I just wish I had your perseverance. You are doing really good with the exercise ball arent you? Are you noticing any difference in your core toneing? Does it still hurt your back or is that better too. I need to get mine out and work on it again since planting season will be here before long and will help me get in shape for that too.

You sure have had it with your teeth lately havent you? Was this dental work that needed done for awhile or did they just all of a sudden get bad on you?

You demand so much from yourself , you know you will never be perfect , and yes I know we should keep trying but you sure do have more determination that most p eople I know of. Lol wish I could be more like you on that front also. Boy I just admire you all to pieces lol

So you got your new Gator? Those are so nice I would love to have one for around here. But guess I will continue to use the wheel barrow. I don’t think I could use one here anyway , too many flower beds and pathways couldn’t get anywhere except arount the outside edges lol . Paul would have to put mats a lot of places for me because I would be wanting one to haul all the rocks and dirt I need moved here and there. That is what I tell Joe about having our truck that is what it is far to haul manure, dirt and rocks. Why else would you have one???

Speaking of Peggy have you heard from her lately? Im so worried about her and don’t know what is going on. I have done all I know how to do and still havent heard from her. Im worried about her if you know anything can you let me know either here or privately. Please….

JO:::: I know last night at wor****pt wanting to write 1-1-10 instead of 2-1-10 just doesn’t seem like this year will last any longer than last year did lol

I guess I am really lucky that hot stuff doesn’t bother my pouch. I can eat as many peppers as I want and doesn’t bother it. Even habaneras and it is a good thing I love them a lot. Actually they are one of the first things I tried after being able to eat again after surgery …didn’t bother me then either. …

OH yes ONE BIG GOLD STAR FOR JO FOR NOT EATING CORNBREAD…..YEA!!!!!!

JEANIE RAE::::yep that is why I said that that the other day….as long as you have diabetes you will have to have enough to eat and snacks….when I work hard like outside and all I have to have them too or I do that…sometimes my blood sugar drops for no reason . Like Cor said in a separate post , I get those same feelings too …I guess we all do after surgery like you do now. So take care and know that it may always be something that you have to deal with. I did have some of the sugar gel that you can buy but used it all up …but like some have said the little jelly packages work good too. Or life savers.

Hope you did well the rest of the day ….I know I always want to sleep after I have one of those attacks of low blood sugar. And they happen sometimes when you have had stuff to eat not long before . doesn’t make a lot of sence but then who knows what does. Lol …

SUSAN :::: did you find anything out about your passing out yet , about why …I bet it was low blood sugar too just came on too fast for you to know what it was , you think? Hope you arent still sore. And are feeling better….

BARBARA:::: hope you are feeling better each and every day….

SUSIE::::: hope your days are getting better. And brighter….I have you in my prayers too , with your concerns about your son. …I know it is heartbreaking….just know we all are praying for you and for him.

Susan, we must have been posting at the same time.  My woman cave is cold but I did get a couple heaters at Big Lots for $25/each and they work pretty well, but I need to turn them on an hour or so before I go out there.  I have a quilt top to put together for someone and a ton of alterations for me so I need to be out there.  The last couple weekends I've just not been in the mood.  My GD is on the dance team so I will have several costumes to alter for her.  I hate working on those costumes but since I sew I'm expected to do it.

Jan, that would make me really nervous having someone watching me do my job.  If someone is watching me type I make all kinds of mistakes.

There's a post for a support group in my area Feb. 20th.  I'm so glad and hope there are enough participants to keep it going.

My best friend is supposed to go to my doctor's seminar this evening.  She isn't 100 lbs. overweight but getting close.  However, she doesn't have but a couple of the co-morbiditys which are high cholesterhol and high BMI, no BP problems but diabetes runs in her family.  Not sure she will qualify.  She is a stress eater.  I've told her it's not magic, you have to eat healthy or you won't lose all the weight or you will re-gain.

So glad the ice and snow didn't arrive.  Max is over at KU today having tests on his feet to try to find out why he has neuropothy.  A woman at church tells him all the time about her father who has neuropathy and how bad it is.  Just what Max doesn't need.  He thinks he will need a walker and he may eventually, but he soaks up all the bad stuff people tell him.  Wish they would keep quiet.

Good morning OH,

Feeling better today, the problem with my blood sugar yesterday was that I didn't eat enough at breakfast, usually if I eat a bowl of cereal, I have a couple of hard boiled eggs and an orange, just had cereal w/ skim mild. planned on having orange juice at 10:00 am with my iron pill but got busy and forgot. My bad. the rest of the day was good. had to test a few more times than normal, but it stayed above 90. Guess I have to learn the hardway.

Jan~it makes me nervous when anybody watches me, specially if they are an authority figure. Sounds like you did good.

My grandbabies get ahold of their parents phones and since I'm one of the fave five, they see my picture and pu**** then I get called. It's funny cause they will talk up a storm till I say who is this then they get totally quiet. Hayden, the youngest called everyday for a week, didn't mind the call, but he called at my nap time, seemed like he knew Grammy would be asleep. LOL.

Jo~It sounds like you are gonna have plenty to do in your woman cave. I tried sewing and what ever I made just came apart or looked really bad, so I just crochet. Think I'm gonna make some animals for the grandbabies birthdays this year. I have some that I made for them to play with here and the youngest girl, Aston asked for my Easter Bunny, So gonna make it for her.

Susan~I guess I have never really thought about low blood sugar because I was grazing all the time so it stayed pretty much high anyway. The meds I take are probably working better now that I eat at regular times and only have light snacks, so I think that was my wake up call. Gonna pay attention and make sure I eat what I should. Probably gonna start planning our meals a week at a time, it might make it easier for me.

Hope everyone has a really good day. I'm trying to keep myself occupied so I don't sit around wishing it was time for surgery, have to take it one step at a time. Boy I'm getting antsy.

Talk to ya all later.
