Daily Bible Reading - Tuesday - January 26th
Reading in Matthew this morning I stopped at 17:19 and thought for a minute. The disciples asked Jesus why they couldn’t drive out the demon. What did Jesus tell them? They had little faith. Then I thought to myself just how much faith does it take and if you read the next line it tells us “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Wow, it says nothing will be impossible if we have just a small small amount of faith. Have you ever seen a mustard seed? I believe the mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds, it’s pretty tiny I know that much, if we just have that tiny amount of faith we will be able to move a mountain. You might say to yourself, as I do, “oh I have that much faith" but do you really? Evidently we don’t or we’d be moving the mountains in our lives out of the way, at least that’s how it is for me. Boy that sure gets me to thinking that I need to work on my faith level. I want to be able to say to the mountains in my life “GO" and they go running as fast as they can, don’t you? Reading the devotion this morning kind of goes right along with having enough faith, it tells us we ARE equipped. God really has equipped us if we only sit and think for a moment. We really are equipped and strong and anointed and empowered by God now to use that in our favor. We really can do it, if we just dig our heals into the ground and stand firm in the faith we have. Halleluiah Amen.

"…Mercy triumphs over judgment"
(James 2:13, NIV)
We've all made mistakes. We've all made wrong choices; but as believers in Jesus, that doesn't change our heritage. God doesn't kick us out of the kingdom because we're not perfect. Maybe you don't feel like you deserve God's goodness, or you think you're supposed to suffer through life and just endure that problem. But friends, this is what mercy is all about. His mercy will renew and restore you if you receive it by faith today.
No matter what you may have done wrong, you are still the apple of God's eye. You are still His most prized possession. You can still activate God's promises by faith today. Why don't you shake off the guilt and condemnation? Put your shoulders back and say, "I refuse to live below my privileges. I may not be perfect, but I am forgiven. I may have made mistakes, but God knows my heart is to please Him, and I am changing my ways. Even though I may have brought this trouble on myself, I'm going to stay in faith and expect God to turn it around."
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
" Gracious heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercy. Thank You for receiving me, loving me, cleansing me, and changing me. I dedicate every area of my life to You and invite You to have Your way in me. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
