Daily Bible Reading - Friday - January 22nd
I just love the story of Joseph and how he was sold in slavery but God took care of him and made him Pharaohs manager over all his land. What caught my heart this morning though is the reading in Matthew. First Jesus performed the miracle of feeding the 5000, actually its way over 5000, it says 5000 men besides all the women and children, out of 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish he fed all those people, what a miracle the got to witness. Can you imagine sitting there and watching the basket of bread being passed around and the basket never getting empty? Or watching the 2 fish being passed around and it never disappearing? At the end when everyone was fed there was more left over then what they started with, I just love reading of how Jesus performed miracles. One of my favorite miracles though is when He walked on the water; every time I read this it speaks volumes to me. It always encourages my faith to get stronger. I just love where peter says “Lord if its you then tell me to come to you on the water." And Jesus simply said “Come" and peter did, now that would take faith in itself for sure. But when peter saw the wind he was afraid and started to sink and cried out to Jesus and Jesus reached His hand out and saved him and asked him “you of little faith, why did you doubt?" This really hits home because my faith at times is so weak. I want to trust Jesus fully with my life and what He has in store for me but yet I tend to doubt at times, why? Sure wish I knew but I suppose we are all like that. Every time I read this though it helps strengthen my faith. I want to be able to walk out on tha****er and not lose site of where I am going, not take my eyes off our Lord, when the storms of life get to raging I want to be able to keep my eyes focused on God and not sink into the water. Praise God when we do take our eyes off Him and we start to sink, He is faithful to reach out His hand every single time and pull us up and put us back on the boat, what a great and mighty God we serve. The devotional this morning seems to go right along with this, walking in victory, wow, I just love how God puts things together.
