WHATS HAPPENING SUNDAY JANUARY 17

Wow I had so much fun yesterday …..I dug up and replanted some hollyhocks and a rose bush.. Yeah it was almost like spring time out. I told Joe look im getting to play in the dirt , he laughed and said it looks a little more like mud than dirt but I had a good time anyway…

Then we took down the fence that we did have the chickens in and today if it doesn’t rain maybe we will get the divider fence up in the garden. Quite a day.

I have cauliflower coming up in the green house. They are just tiny little green sprouts but they are coming up…I hope im not running the elect up too much by keeping the grow lights on them all the time…we also have a gas heater in there this year that seems to be doing really well. It is keeping it warm enough for things to sprout anyway and the gauge on the propane tank isn’t moving much at all. We are going to try and get a tank for the trailer this summer sometime so we wont always have to be getting the tanks filled for it.I just hate the looks of the propane tanks…but they don’t look much worse than the big ole a/c outside …

Guess you all notice how much better I feel huh lol didn’t realize how much digging and planting makes me feel good. Lol yeah I did too. I love it. It is almost like an addiction. But I guess if you are going to be addicted to something digging in the dirt is a good thing.

JEANIE RAE:::::yeah I wish you lived next door too . I need someone to help make me walk lol

Jeanie does your floor scrubber use just plain water? I was told with our laminates that you are only suppose to use this micro fiber mop with this spray laminate cleaner. I started using the swifter mop and it left a dirty film on them and made them really dull. Sounds like they were good and dirty lol

You bet I think that is great that you are going to go to Dr. Edwards support group too, as long as you come to ours too lol ….I know you will.

Yes it is important that you get the pictures and after surgery get them taken every month….also do your measurement once a month. Lot of time if you havent lost much weight you can measure and see that wow I have lost lots of inches tho. When I measure I measure every where lol neck , upper arm , wrist, boobs, under boobs, waist, belly , hips. Thighs, calfs and ankles…it relly spurs you on when you can measure and then look back on last months and you have lost inches all over. I envy you right now getting to just start out. It is all exciting and believe me the exercise is important. I have seen the difference in a lot of people and the ones that do the best do exercise. I could kick myself for being so lazy.

JO::::::: it sounds like you are doing all of what you need to do….be sure and get the water in….the exercise is great hope you get to keep it going.

I really cant believe there isn’t a support group any where in KC…that just doesn’t seem possible. Is there anywhere there that does the wls? If there is there should have a support group. If there isn’t one all you have to do is find a couple of free ways to advertise. And start one up…you don’t have to have any special qualifications, unless you are going to have it be an OH group…ours isn’t because we didn’t want the structue of having to have guest speakers every meeting. And we wanted it to be like a group of friends getting together. Hence the name a Circle of Friends.

Not sure about the other wls support groups in the KC area but mine is just for the patients of the surgeons of KC Bariatrics. I think it is the same with the others as I get several phone calls asking if people can attend if they did not have surgery with us.
Just FYI,

Jan, you're a hoot!!  Playing in the dirt in January??  I can tell you feel much better and if playing in the dirt makes you feel good, go for it!!

I got good info from my question about carbs.  I also posted it on the RNY boad.

My surgeon did have a support group but they met on Wednesday at 6 pm.  Last summer I asked for a list of topics and they didn't have any so not sure they still meet.  Max goes to choir on Wednesday at 7:30 and we only have one car.  I ride the bus to work and by the time I get home I don't have time to get over there anyway.  There was a support group that met in Lee's Summit before I had surgery, but I don't think they are still meeting.  I posted here about a KC group and got no responses.

I've already planned my exercise for this week.  After increasing my water last week I noticed a difference in my hunger.  I wasn't hungry, I was thirsty.  I never drink carbonated beverages.  Every not and then I would get a craving for a diet Coke but after the first sip I knew I didn't want it.

Jo,
Yes, we did have a support group in Lee Summit before you had your surgery.  We had as many as 13 attend at one time.  We met a church which was obtained because one of wls people was able to get it free of charge.  I traveled 55 miles one way for the meeting monthly and then we had a lot of people who left the area and then the member left the church and because of cir****tances with that we no longer had a meeting place.  One nite I drove all the way and only one person showed up.  We got discouraged and gave up.  In the meantime, I can no longer be gone from home that long as I am caregiver for DH.  I do go for 2 hours but no longer.  I too, need a support group and thought of going to Sedalia, but with church in morning and by the time we get home its too much for a day.  I hope you find something i that area also.  God Bless, Colette

Hi OH,

Jan I agree with the others, you sound like you are absolutely having the best time. I think maybe it's in your blood to play in the dirt, even if it's wet.

I've been reading the board and hearing about members having problems with food, I have to confess, I've had more trouble with food since I saw Dr. Edwards. I think I'm getting the well after surgery I won't be able to have this so why not now? I am keeping my food log and being honest, don't really over do it when I have carbs I shouldn't eat, but feel like I'm back in the old days when I just let go, I don't have a problem with sugar, I've been eating too much protein. The nutrionist wants me to do 60 to 80 grams a day, I,ve been doing more than 100, one day it was 126.

I'm gonna rethink my eating habits and try to get a lot more lettuce and other free foods planned into my meals.

Jo~I wish there were a Support Group in the KC area also, My DD's Mom-in-law is having Lap-Band on the 25th, and I know she will need support. She has a computer but doesn't do much on it, I have told my DD about OH, and she has told MIL about this site but she doesn't seem to want to do the internet. Hope you all can get something going up there.

I posted my before pictures on my profile, I also put one on my refrigerator. I remember when I was in my 20's I did that and it helped remind why I was on a low fat diet, lost the weight I wanted took the picture down and gained back what I lost plus more.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend, gonna try to go to Dr. Edwards group tomorrow night, I think I'm gonna soak in all the support I can get. Will talk to ya all tomorrow.
