WHATS HAPPENING MONDAY 18TH

Well one day nice , next day cold, cant depend on this weather at all …one of these days I guess it will straighten out some.

Joe got the post for the divider fence in the garden done today. Tomorrow we will stretch the wire and put up the gate. We will leave both doors open for the time being so they can come and go on each side…I wonder how confusing that will be to them lol will have to see if it messes with them too much will have to shut off the one side. May have to cut the feathers on one wing tokeep them from trying to fly over the fence. Lol

Well I go to work at 2pm …unless they call me . Will let you all know how it went. Hopefully my knee will hold up to the work . We will see. They have me scheduled for 3 days M-T-W for orientation and then next week on the med carts for two days. Ought to be interesting.

I found some of my uniforms I had them in a box to take to Teresa ,my daughter who is also a nurse. So for right now she wont be getting them lol I sent her about 10 outfits about a year ago and she said she had gotten down to be able to wear them now …that is great ….

CONNIE::: THANKS for the info….if Jo started a support meeting would you all refer anyone that didn’t qualify for your support group to hers?? That might get her started. I know for our group in Springfield Cox hospital refers their patients to us. We have had a few of them come sometimes they will come back but it is sort of like here they think they learn everything and don’t need it lol when do we ever know everything.

SUSAN::::: I was going to ask you what in the world size was that scrub top you had on the other day….I think she and I both could have gotten in it….I have a outfit that im going to bring you and see if you can wear it it is my goal outfit but I don’t know if I will ever make it lol and if you can wear it ….oh yeah do you want the top and bottom of the undergarments that make us look better lol …it just hurt my intestines, girdles always have never have been able to wear them ….im so short waisted and it feels like it is cutting me into…I will sell them to you for a good price I promise. I have tried them on and wore it about 2 hours and I was getting so sick so I took them off and hand washed them . If you want them let me know and I will bring them up to you if not today then maybe tues or wed. do you all have anything planned around 1pm Tuesday??? I can come by before work….wish you all were still out here we could ride to work together and share gas….oh I will always be working 2-10 might be different once in a while but mainly that shift. You all leave about 8 don’t you?

Your picture is really cute. It doesn’t show how tiny you really are….you are going to come to the support meeting this mo arent you??

Are you still trying to lose weight?? To me you look great and I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you. I think if we try to lose too much we get to looking sick . But that is something that no one can tell someone else unless you don’t see anything but bones. Lol you look so so tiny tho , maybe part of it was that big top you had on. Looked like you were playing dress up with mamas dress. Lol you know I love you, so don’t mean to make you feel bad ….oh I have something else for you too. I think….

COLETTE:::::yeah you probably would pass her up ….especially if you weren’t looking for her. She is a very pretty woman …..she should be proud of what she has accomplished.

SUSAN :::: I forgot to tell you thanks for the info on using yogurt for protein ….that is a good idea.

JO:::::: lol yep I think maybe I loved making mud pies when I was a kid. No telling but lord it makes me feel so good when I plant and even pull weeds. I know a lot of people hate some of it like the weed pulling but I even like that. When im doing those type of jobs is when I do my best thinking and meditating and talking to God…and since the heat doesn’t bother me any more I can stay out all day and work.,,as long as I keep my water handy.

Jo if you decide that you want to try to get a group together,,,go to all the wl surgeons around and talk to their nurses or the person that answers the phone….and have something printed up about you are wanting to start a group put your name and number on it and tell the nurses to give anyone that info that calls and isn’t their patient. It might give you several people right away.

They say that most of the time when people think they are hungry that you really are thirsty….I have also tried it and yes it works most of the time I am thirsty, instead of hungry. Weird huh?

Im proud of you for sticking to the exercise….

JEANIE RAE:::: YES im a dirty ole woman lol …..

You know maybe the abandonment of food rules right now is a good thing . At least you are aware that you shouldn’t be eating certain things. Believe me right after surgery you wont want anything and it will be hard enough just getting in a protein shake or a glass of water. The first week you need some sort of protein drink that isn’t milk based you know? Something you can put in water or a ready to drink that is why a lot of doctors give patients in the hospital the Isopure….I like to carry them with me sometimes and if I put them in a glass of crystal light they are pretty good. Lol

I keep my before picture out where I can see it all the time too. I never want to go back to that. I was so miserable. couldn’t do anything except sit and sweat….

Love to all.

Good Morning All,

Mimi hope your job turns out to be something you like again and your knees do well.

Boy it's Monday already... spent Saturday helping the neighbor sand and varnish her kitchen cabinets while Paul installed my new cabinets in the laundry room... boy did he make a mess in there getting them in... but got that all cleaned up and now am ready to do mine today... hopefully I will get them stained today and a coat of varnish actually polyurethane on them tomorrow... I am doing the insides first so I can go ahead and us them and then will do the doors last there are 20 of them so I'm sure it will take me awhile on them all... I am going to put several coats of poly on them so they will last longer before needing anything else done to them.  Then I will do some work on all the cabinets I already have they need touched up especially right around the sinks.  That will keep me busy for some time to come.

Boy has the pouch test sure helped shrink my pouch.  A great way to get myself back to where I should be.  I sure can't eat near as much dense meat as I can egg salad or cottage cheese.

There is so much fog here it's like it's raining outside.  Paul and I went for a walk yesterday...it is so nice when he goes with me, he sure huffs and puffs... golly I remember when I used to be the one huffing and he would have to slow down for me...it hurts me to see it the other way though... I want him to feel as good as I do.

Boy Mimi I have been diligent to do my crunches on the exercise ball and I am seeing some improvement in how many I can do now and feeling the pull in my abdomen... it really doesn't hurt my back to do them if I do them right when I take the pain meds.  Also getting ready to start with the 5 lb weights again.  That's all the more I'm going to use...my Jo uses 8 lbs but those gave me fits in my back when I tried them before so I think I will be happy with the 5's.  That's like lifting a sack of sugar over your head 50 times...~ha actually 10 lbs when you use both.

Well I hope all have a great day.

Bec

Good Morning!  Did you think I fell off the planet? LOL  I started working at my tax job and then what do you know real estate picks up as well.  I've been running like a crazy woman this last 2 weeks.  So much so I managed to drop 5 lbs!  I can't even believe it.  I'm so excited!  My good friend she's my age and a widow with two little kids.  Her MIL died last week so I went with her to help drive and take care of the kids.  We went to Texas.  Left on Sat came back on Tue.  Then I had to go right to work on taxes.  I'm enjoying being busy though. Well I have to head to the office.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!  Take care! See you at the meeting if I don't have to work!  ;) Lou

It's another foggy morning and now rain is forecasted for the rest of the week.  We need a good rain to wash away this nasty snow, but not days.  Oh well, the weather is one thing we can't control.

I'm not sure I want to lead a support group.  Right now I'm taking the Stephan Ministry training that lasts thru part of March. After that I will be assigned a care receiver who I will probably meet with once a week.  Then, there's the Literacy program I want o do to teach reading.  Maybe I should figure a way to go to my surgeon's support group.

I have my menus planned for the week.  Dinner tonight is cube steak and green beans.  Tomorrow will be Hamburger Soup and Wednesday beans and ham, both of these meals wil be cooked in the slow cooker.  I'm tracing my food either here on OH or the daily plate.  I like daily plate best because you can keep a list of what you eat most so it's quicker to record.  Here, you have to look up the food every time.  OH does show your percentages plus calories, etc.   No carbs except the good ones and at least 64 oz. of water plus exercise at least 3 times a week.

Lou, good to see you here.  I was wondering about you.

Jeanie, you can't believe how your appetite changes.  Popcorn was a big favorite of mine.  I can eat it now with no problem, but I just don't care for it.  Carbonated beverages were always so refreshing and now can't stand them which is good because I'm not supposed to have them.....ever.

I'm meeting my niece at Firs****ch for lunch.  Need to look at the menu online so I can know what to order.  It's a favorite place for me, but they do have a lot of unhealthy meals.

Good Morning all....I too have not fallen off the face of the earth...however some days I sure do feel like it....
Just wanted to come on and say Hello and see how everyone is doing...
sounds like everyone is busy, busy.
Things are going great here at work...Its like keeping up wtih 12 toddlers all the same age....but they keep me hopping and to tell the truth I love it, I really missed my calling in the younger years of my work life.
Still having some issues with my weight and the mind games that it plays. But at least Im aware of the issues at hand and am keeping them in mind at all times. It dont help when someone tell me that Im gaining but Oh BTW you still look good....thats just not something that sits well in my scattered mind...lol.
I have gained...but its not a good gain....right now them damn NO Bake Cookies are evil...evil ...evil I tell you....I have really gotten lazy about food and have been just eatting what ever I want....regardless of how it makes me feel....when will I learn that sugar make me feel awful, but I just keep going back for more....just like a dummy...lol
How I so wish that I would have seen the posts earlier about the 5 day pouch test you all done...would have done that with you all....I need to De-Carb and De-Sugar myself as well....I can feel myself going back to my old ways...and I dont want that life anymore...Yes I needed to gain...but in a good way not with junk....Think I may start liquid tomorrow....
Anyway...good to see you all are doing good...Hugs to you all...and Hello to all the newbies....
Hugs

Hi OH,

Well DH went to Springfield to see if he can get a good run today, I love him very much, but I need some time with him not in the house. I might not do anything or might decide to clean, just need him to go somewhere for awhile.

I am enjoying the peace and quiet. Started pickling eggs a couple of weeks ago and they turned out so good, just pickled two dozen. I hope eggs are one of the foods I will still enjoy eating after surgery.

I think Dr. Edwards group meets tonight, if so I am gonna try to go. I did tell Mary that I go to COF, but I still want to try to go to the other.

Jan, hope going back to work is good for you. That's one of the things I would love to be able to do eventually. I actually thought if I could pass the DOT physical I might like to drive over the road again. Who knows? Don't think that would happen but it is a nice dream. Used to love traveling around the US in a big truck.

Cor~I understand what you mean about the food. Since I was accepted as Dr. Edwards patient I feel totally out of control. I found myself trying to not be honest about what I have eaten, but the whole purpose of having WLS is to get well, the only person I am hurting is me when I eat what isn't good for me. I know that you can conquer the beast again and get yourself back on track. I am going to have to do it one day at a time and get on track to have a successful journey.

I need to post this and get busy around here. Hope everyone has a good day.

Jeanie, I know what you mean needing time alone.  It's difficult for me to have that time because my husband is retired.  He goes to choir on Wednesday evening and I enjoy my time alone.  Right now he goes to the hockey game and I really like my "me" time.

You will probably be surprised at the foods you don't like after surgery.  Eggs are something I just can't stand.  Before surgery I really liked scrambled eggs and omelets but not now.  I never liked boiled eggs.

Other things I don't like are carbonated beverages, ice cream and turkey.

I can tell you there is no food that tastes as good as losing the weight does.

Jo~It's so nice to know I'm not the only one that loves my DH dearly, but also want's my alone time. I think it's important to be away from each other so you can breath.

I have always loved eggs and even when the fact that they are so high in cholesterol was in the news I still had my eggs. have to say though that in the last year or so, I don't eat nearly as many as I used to. I turned more to oatmeal for breakfast, and I don't eat oatmeal with sugar and milk. I use my mediterreanian can't believe it's not butter and hot sauce and parmesan cheese. I hope I still like that of course I am aware that I won't be able to eat as much of that as I do now.

The thing that matters the most is losing this weight.
