WHATS HAPPENING FRIDAY JANUARY 15,

on 1/14/10 9:22 pm - Cedar Creek, MO

Well yesterday was warm but looked like it was going to rain all day but we did get rid of almost all traces of the snow. And the chickens have all the garden to roam around it now. They sure do act like they are happy with that. I went out and walked 30 minutes yesterday and the day before , tried to do another round of it but the knee said no more ….I sure am feeling better with doing the pouch test and eating right. I havent had any carbs. Tonight for supper I an having a grilled piece of chicken and that is it. Later on tonight if I get hungry I will have a protein shake…that will give me the protein I need for the day….Saturday im going to weight and see if I have lost anything,, I feel lighter. Do any of you?

They are saying we are suppose to have rain today. Sure wi**** would be pretty again soon. Even tho it is warm….oh well guess we cant have everything , price we pay for living in the Ozarks. I cant remember why we are here tho. Crazy weather. My daughter that lives in Tucson said they are suppose to have a week of 60s and she was hunting her coat lol. Silly girl.

SUSAN :::::GOOD to hear from you. How did your foot doctor appt go? Is it still doing well? I know you stay busy now with working …sorry about your dad and his falling.

JO::::im with you on trying to make exercise a habit, I hate anything that is called exercise. Lol ….I wish I could make myself do it. I applaud you for going …keep it up.

I hope they find what is wrong with your husband , I know I have one that hurts all the time too. His spine xrays look much better than mine and I keep going. But I guess maybe they arent the stronger sex lol

Hope he finds out what is hurting him and why.

JEANIE RAE::::sounds like you have the journal and the exercise by the tail….yes a lot of people like to have last meals…I had been on the atkins diet for so long before I ever had surgery that my favorite things to eat were protein…if you eat enough protein and drink enough protein drinks they will satisfy your cravings…..\Andy says to drink green tea too. It does help….keep up the good work.

Hey I like your picture …..oh be sure and take your measurments and have someone to take a good picture of you front , and back and sideways to put in your photo book I gave you. Ok??? You will appreciate it later on, when you say you cant tell by looking at yourself that you are littler ,,,,you will be able to tell with pictures. Honest. And it is necessary to be able to get your mind changed about yourself.

It's afternoon, where is everyone?  Jan, glad you're feeling better and hope the scale is kind to you.  You look pretty slim to me.  I've gotten back in the habit of weighing every morning.  I know, I need to quit that.

I cleaned out the fridge this morning and rearranged the LR.  I have a stack of magazines to go thru.  Some are the OH magazine.  I flipped thru some of them and re-read some of the articles.  One was about how losing weight in the beginning is so easy then after awhile it slows down and you have to work at getting the remainder off and maintaining a healthy weight.  I need a review.  One article talked about carbs and sweets and the effect on us.

I'm going to be planning my meals more carefully and eliminating carbs.  Sugar makes me sick so eliminating that isn't a problem.

This afternoon I'm going to the gym (3rd time this week) then the library and the Dollar Store.  I just love wandering around the Dollar Store.

Max saw the second pain mgmt doctor today.  She wants to stick needles into the area to relax the muscles.  He's not too keen on that idea but I told him he should try it.  He has a lot of symptoms of Diverticulitis so I suggested he follow the diet for that for awhile and see if it improves.  It's frustrating when no one can find the cause.

It's foggy here and looks like rain.  The snow is gradually melting.  Hope I don't see any more snow this year!!

Good Evening All...

Paul and I have a wonderful 2 hour walk on the Katy Trail today...boy did that river look brrrrr cold... big chunks of ice floating down it... I tried to run to keep pace with a piece and it out did me! ~ha  It was moving pretty fast... I could do it for awhile at least :o)

We was walking along the bluff at Rocheport and out jumped a fat red fox out of the bluff...don't know where in the world he came from as the bluff goes straight up?  Anyway Paul growled at him and he ran so fast...it was comical...boy could he move!  Then we saw some HUGE icicles that went from the top of the rocks to the ground they were beautiful! In one place it was one HUGE icicle covering the whole side of the cliff was neat to see.

Then we drove some gators and learned some stats on the different ones and how they were made etc. etc. etc.  found out we would want a "TX" over a "TC" now why the heck... I don't know but Paul was all over and under those machines looking at how they were made and finding out all about them... I just test drove them and told him which one I like the best...~ha

I really needed the pouch test and can tell I have lost a lb or two as well... I know it takes way less now to make me feel full that's for sure and dense meat will do it way faster.

I am so proud of you ladies that are making an added effort to exercise I don't have one bit of trouble any more doing it and know it is a large part of my success...especially since I can eat about anything I want to... if I get careless I know the exercise is helping so much... the neighbor man told me I looked musclely? I was sure glad he has never had to see me without my yummy tummy and clothes!!!! Egads he would NOT be so complementary! ~tee hee

Well I'm tired tonight going to go take a hot shower and relax with Paul the rest of the evening... will go help a neighbor lady varnish her top kitchen cabinets in the morning...

Say Connie... I made the jerky and everyone I have given some to loves it... I made it with ground meat it turned out wonderful!  And I can digest it very well... lots of protein in it... two pieces fills me up and I'm satisfied. Thank  you for the recipe.

I also made a pork loin recently and put a rub of Splenda brown sugar, chili powder, onion flakes, parsley, salt and pepper... all three of us just loved it as well.  Good stuff!

Going to make some sweet and sour chicken next with the recipe someone posted here that used Splenda too...sounds yummy.  Will just make a few stir fry vegetables to go with it and no rice.

Well hope you all have had a good day and have a wonderful weekend as well.

Glad to hear you had great success with the jerky. Now how about those turkey pepperoni chips... had a chance to test drive them yet?

Gee Whiz ... I had forgotten about those and do you know they got eaten, imagine that... I will get some more here in a day or two as soon as I go to town  and try them right out... on my way to the kitchen now to put another "load" of jerky in the oven... say is the ground meat jerky suppose to me tender and not tough like the solid meat jerky? and do you have to store it in the fridge... well I guess not if you sent it overseas huh?

We will just have to meet sometime when I'm up in your neck of the woods as many times as we have chatted on here.

Will let you know how the test drive goes this week on the "pep chips"!  Now how was it again I was to fix them?

I tried the sweet and sour chicken recipe yesterday that someone had posted here and it was yummy!  Lov'n these new meat recipes!

Thanks again for the info...

Yes the hambuger jerky is tender. If I keep some for DH I usually store them in the fridge just to be safe but supposedly they are fine sitting out. But I would rather be safe than sorry.
Here is the recipe for the Pep Chips..

Spread a package of sliced pepperoni on cookie sheet pan in single layer. Preheat oven to 350. Bake 10-15 minutes watching them closely as they burn quickly. Transfer to paper towels and dab with paper towels to get as much of the fat off as you can. You can season them while they are still warm with whatever floats your boat. I sometimes take a small amount of Ranch dressing dry mix and sprinkle lightly over them. They keep at room temp in ziplock bags for several days...well I guess they would but not around this house they don't have a chance.
Hope you like them too,
Connie B.
Oh and yes I would like to meet you in person too. Maybe at the doctor's office your next visit.

Hi Connie...

Gave the Turkey Peps a "test drive" tonight and they turned out real well... still got quite a bit of grease off those even... and I liked them much better with the ranch powder on them... the turkey pepps seem to have more spice to them to make up for it being turkey as the meat, so it was a bit "hot" for my taste but was not greasy at all after I patted them with the paper towels. I'm sure they are much better for us?

Great idea! You should try them at least once even though they are about 50% higher to make maybe the less grease is worth the extra cost?

I got a sweet card from Becky in the good Dr.'s office today... it really lifted my spirits! She is so nice and gives such wonderful hugs when I go into see them.  I will have to do something for all the ladies when I go again... I need to make my appt. for this year as I want to make it the weekend of that craft festival in Mound City.

Thanks again for another great recipe idea.  My daughter REALLY like pepps and now she likes Pep chips! ~tee hee

Kind of tired so gonna make this short. We had a pick up and delivery, picked up a movie last night and delivered it this morning. Makes for a long day,

Got my apps. for Nutritionist and Excercise Re-hab on the 26th. Also started the Body Fortress protein powder for snacks, like the strawberry, hope I like the chocolate.

My PCP took me off Plavix, but said stay on aspirin till Dr. E says to stop taking it. I'm taking it one day at a time now and getting really phsyced for the new me. Kind of feel sorry for my DH, and I apologized in advance, because I said I may be a "B" from time to time, I just hope I don't run him off. LOL, haven't been able to do it for 35 years, I think maybe he'll stick around to see what the new me looks like.

Jan I don't have the excercise by the tail, I hate excercise. Told DH that I could just go to WM everday and walk around there. He just laughed, I couldn't afford to do that, I haven't been able to go to WM and only get what I went there for.

Guess I had my HTML Editor set wrong earlier, I only had about 2" of space to type in. I tried to download an Avatar but couldn't get it to upload, that's Peek-a-boo, one of our birds on my shoulder, she likes taking air baths, I'm gonna get one of my DS's to take some pics of me, already have the ink and paper to print. I will upload before and after pics. Then when I look as good as you and all the other losers in COF I'll upload a better one.

DH is feeling better, he is just sleeping a lot longer than normal, I think we're gonna try and get his pulmonary re-hab set up so we are at the gym at the same time. I know he will start feeling way better when he can excercise and starts breathing better.

I better go, gonna try to watch some of my recorded shows and then watch Numbers. Hope everyone has a good night, will talk to ya later.
