GOD BLESS YOU TODAY
JAN COOK
Several asked about cooking baked potatoes in the slow cooker. I wrapped them in foil. I didn't eat one (aren't you proud Jan....I passed up those carbs) but DH had one and it was really brown. They were against the sides so I think they were overcooked; however, I have baked just potatoes in there and they were fine. I wrapped them in foil and put several in the cooker and no problem. He said it tasted ok, it just wasn't white like you normally see. The ribs fell apart, very good. DH doesn't like BBQ sauce so I didn't put it on them. I had some on mine and they were so good. But, will I be able to eat them reheated?
Before WLS I could eat the hottest food out there.....loved it. I always got the extra hot Pace picante sauce. Now, just a little spice burns my esophogus. That is the only food I miss. I'm wondering if I have acid reflux but spicey is the only thing that bothers me. A couple of Tums takes away the burn.
Oh, I also wrap the ribs in foil to hold in the marinade. I use liquid smoke and a little sprinke of different kinds of salt. It doesn't taste salty at all.
I'm starting what I guess you would call a modified pouch test. I used the last of my favorite protein powder for a couple drinks today. Lunch will be cheese. I'm avoiding carbs.
Tonight I'm going to the gym. I haven't been exercising and really need to. Too much sitting isn't doing a thing for my waistline.

Good morning OH,
Jan, So sorry you're not feeling well. I feel for you and know that the best thing you can do sometimes is get plenty of rest, drink fluids. God Bless you hope you get to feeling better soon.
Jo~I think I might try baked potatoes like that. My DH likes them done in the Microwave but sometimes he overdoes them, and then we can play hockey with them. Oh well.
I go to the first consult tomorrow, why am I getting so nervous? It's almost like I'm getting ready for my Wedding. Guess it's anticipation.
Well at least it warmed back up. Hope it stays that way for awhile. Hope everyone has a good week, Talk to ya all later.
Addysmom.... congratulations on the success of your first day! Yippee!
Mimi ~ so sorry you are not feeling well today... hope you are better by now.
I was up and at the dentist in Lee's Summit by 6:50 a.m. Was out of there by 8:00 oh boy am I glad THAT'S over! OUCH OUCH OUCH!!! and pain all day long... but shopped all day long and got home about 8:00 p.m. Still have to exercise yet too... will take my last dose of pain meds for the day to get that done... tooth holes are still oozing blood too... will sure be glad when they quit hurting!
Good news is I had a successful day with day 1 of the pouch test... 3 scoops of protein powder and 3 cups of skim extra milk with various flavorings and a large bottle of flavored water + plain water... that's it! Did I think about food... you dang right I did but I "resisted the devil and he flew from me" ~tee hee I'm sure tomorrows liquids will be much harder if I feel better... will have to drink lots of broth, water, and such and pray pray pray! ~ha
Stopped at Sam's and got some canned chicken (in place of the tuna since I do not like it all that well) for some of the days anyway... it seems to be moister than what I cook sometimes. I am going to make sweet and sour chicken and just eat the chicken for day 5. Think it may have been Jo's recipe... in the crock pot. Looked today for the BBQ sauce but could not find it for my pork loin...darn it!
Well better get to exercising ... I'm plumb tuckered the bed will feel wonderful tonight...it's been a rough day... I guess I asked for some of it myself... just did not want to loose an opportunity to get some things I wanted and needed.
Check in again tomorrow and for those of you that are doing the pouch test hang in there it will get easier and you will see some wonderful results!
