WHATS HAPPENING FRIDAY --JANUARY8 2010

I really don’t know how much more of this cold and isolation I can stand. I feel like I am about to lose it all the time…hanging on by the fingernails….only God is keeping me sane. I know one thing if we stay living here in Mo. We wont be here for the winter anymore. ….will make sure there is someone here that will take care of the place and that will be it. Leave right after Thanksgiving and not come back till first day of march. Tired of it. No more.

Im sorry to be so down and dreary….that is how I feel today, I usually try to see the good in everything and keep a stiff upper lip and all…but ive just about had it.

Please God let it warm up , this wind and cold is like it is in the north west like in Idaho and Montana. It hit’s the side of my house and sounds like a large thud .

I know others have it much worse than we do so I am trying to keep it in perspective….SO  i guess i will make it but sure am miserable....especially when i look at the temps in Tucson ...72 there yesterday...

JO:::: so glad that you found a protein that you like and taste good to you. I know what you mean about left overs…they are totally a no go for me ….don’t know why but they seem like they are nothing but grease after being in fridge…if I take stuff from a rest. Home with me then I know it is going to be lunch for Joe not me.

JEANIE-RAE::::: you have been using a nasal spray? Anytime I use one I get horrible nose bleeds. Not as much as you are describing but still for some reason if I use them more than 2 days in a row they do just the opposite of what I want them to do.

George is going this next Wednesday afternoon to take the required admittance test for the national Guard…once he is in there he will get the rest of his college paid. Especially if he scores as high as he did the other day…the recruiter said he would be able to call it for what he wanted to do after his degree. So that is good.

I will get my size N crochet hook before the meeting. Im making up a ball of plarn lol

Hope you and hubby are feeling better or will be soon.

SUSIE:::::yeah it is a lot easier to say than to do , especially for mothers I guess. It tears your heart out to see them doing stupid things. But if we don’t give them tough love and stand back and let them go do what they will do they will never learn….my youngest one continues to mess up all the time but I no longer go running to get her out of her messes and they are becoming fewer and farther between ….so let him stew in his own mess he makes and pray…we will all be praying with you. Hope to see you on the 25th….

BEC:::: Are you thru with working at Pennys? I cant believe they didn’t keep you on.

Lol sounds like you were on the loopy road , glad you had a driver…..lol

I ran across a picture of you that I took back before you had surgery up at Sedelia park started to send it to you so you could see how much you have changed. you don’t look like the same person .

I know the furniture you put in your dining room has to look beautiful or you wouldn’t have it in there.

Yes (lol ) I know how you feel about matching stuff …did you give your daughter your other dining room suite?

Well be careful with all the running and walking you are going to develop only the leg muscles do race walking it developes the arms and everything.

The web site for the 5 day pouch test is just that

It really does help but every time I do it I need to do it at least two times in a row to get carbs gone.

Mimi... So sorry you are feeling so cooped up.  Hope you get to go to AZ if you would like that better.

Yes... I am done working at Penney's for the time being... I guess I was the 1st one they wanted to keep but they only wanted to give me 4 hour shifts and that did not even pay me to drive all that way for around $20 a day not counting the wear and tear on my car...if I'm going to work then I will have to find 8 hour shifts I agreed to 6 hour shifts at Penney's but they couldn't even do that at this time, the manager told me that "if something came up I would certainly be the first one they called."  So I'll leave that in the Lord's hands and see what happens.

I am power running/jogging already... I have my arms up swinging the whole time and have developed quite the set of muscles in my neck and shoulders... the sil gave me a neck/back rub the other day when I was in the kitchen cooking and couldn't believe how hard all my muscles where... I know that's good for me all this exercise but it sure is not attractive my legs look like a mans...~ha

Send the picture on I know I will be disgusted  but thankful too.

Yes I gave Jo my dining room set and it went perfect in her new apt.  I still have one more piece to get done for my dining room.  It is the larger piece that the T.V. actually goes in ... I will have Paul cut down the back of it so it will be the same dept as the china towers and add a couple of shelves for storage.  Then I am going to order solid doors for the front.  I will give it a good soaking in lemon oil when I bring it in and hopefully it will look as good as the china towers turned out... boy did I have to piece it all together but felt very blessed to have an $1800 piece of furniture for around $200 and a lot of work.  And it is the very same entertainment center I have in my den only I use it in there for what it was made for.  The table is Victorian looking has the fancy pressed back chairs and matching scroll work around the table.  The sil had only had it a couple of months before her house burned and it got smoke damage... the insurance company told her to put it in the dumpster because it would cost more to restore it than it was worth ...so of coarse I couldn't see just throwing it away so the sil asked me if I wanted it... the neighbor lady and myself scrubbed nearly 16 hours on the chairs to get all that black pitch off of them... but it paid off... know what finally worked to make them look so good?... a heavy mixture of oxyclean...who'd a thunk it?  When the weather warms up I'm going to take it out in the garage and put the polyurethane on it all...or maybe I will put something down on the carpet and do it in here I don't know...depends how ambitious I get or just how much cabin fever I get? ~ha

Well better get my exercise done and ready to go run some errands.  Get Paul out to warm up the puddle jumper...I love having him around to chauffeur me around in this bad yuck!

I will start the 5 day pouch test on Monday as I have my teeth extracted...my insurance pays 100% for the extraction but not for the sedation...so I will try and get by without it... the teeth are close together so I'm hoping it will be an easy pull... I have to pay $80 for laughing gas...no way! ~ha  I will have already taken the sedatives so I hope that will work.  Boy I dread stuff like this!

Going to have Paul take me to town today to get them.... it is to be bitterly cold today they say and I see the drive has drifted pretty high...oh well I WILL get the sedatives BEFORE SUNDAY NIGHT! ~ha I feel like I have slept like a baby and that just does not happen to me very often.

Going down maybe Saturday to help the lady that helped me with my chairs do her kitchen cabinets.  I go down when I'm out exercising sometimes for a cup of coffee and we seem to enjoy chatting together ...she is quite the gal and has done and lived lots of experiences.

I don't think she would mind me sharing this ...but we were talking about heart problems and she got up and took a key and opened her curio cabinet and took out a specimen bottle and showed me the HUGE piece of plaque they took out of her artery... it was plumb scary!  How she was living I'm sure I don't know!  You could see how it had been rolled up in her artery but that thing was huge!  If you didn't believe in what poor eating could do to you you darn sure would after seeing that! Kinda looked like a thick piece of skin or fat you would take off a piece of meat...gee willikers we must have pretty good size arteries? She said the Dr. told her there was very very little blood flow thru her arteries ... she is taking one of the cholesterol meds and some of her arteries that were working at 15% are now at 65% at her last recent test...that's amazing to me.  Anyway what I saw in the jar would make a believer out of you to take your meds and at least try on the eating front.

Well better quit chattering and get busy on the exercise....

Have a wonderful day all and Mimi chin up it WILL get better!

Jan,
I feel the same way today.  Only our snow here from the wind is knee deepl.  I walked to mail box yesterday and just bout fell over.  Cant even get the car out of garage/ Sure do miss hubby not being able to do things.  We have 3 neighbors and no one called to check on the old folks from around us.  I finally called a gent I know from town and he will plow us out but not till sat after work.  Good thing I dont need anything.  LOL.  Did I ever tell you I want to go to Arizona?  I lived there for 6 months.  In the
summer I will just stay inside.  LOL.    Oh well, things will get better.

Everyone keep Barb in your prayers.  today she has extended tummy tuck.God Bless! Colette

I'm so tired of the cold and snow, but I did go to work today.  Yesterday I was able to work at home.  DH got on my nerves a little asking too many questions.

Today is my 18 month anniversary for surgery.  I was supposed to see the surgeon and his crew yesterday, but cancelled because I've not lost but 3 or 4 lbs. since I saw him in July.  I asked for a morning appointment next month and was told I can't come in the morning because post-ops are only seen in the afternoon.  Really ticked me off.  They are always running late and by the time you see him and all the others, it's at least a 2 hour visit.  I prefer being the first patient so I don't have to wait so long.  I'm going to see if my PC will have the tests done that he does and I just won't see him.  I'm paying him so seems he should work with me for an appointment.  It says to me, I'm not very important now.

Last night I warmed up the spaghetti and Italian sausage.  I ate the sausage but could hardly get down a few bites of the spaghetti.  What is it about leftovers that is so hard to eat.  Although I've never been one for leftovers.  Never thought I would have a problem eating, but nothing sounds good.  I do love crackers but I'm not because of the carbs.  Yes, Jan, I will make sure I get in my protein!!

Jan,
I know you're tired of winter when you complain because you are not a complainer. However, when the snow and cold is gone and you can get out in your beautiful yard you'll forget how awful this was. It really isn't usually this cold - remember that!!! You know I lived in Las Vegas for 5 1/2 years and hate the desert so Arizona is not for me but the warm temp is good. This Christmas when we were in Las Vegas John and I both thought we hurt more - don't know what that was all about. I think it could have been that our room was upstairs so we were climbing up and down and really climbing was the correct name because they were really steep. My right knee clicks when I go up stairs and it was playing a tune on those!!

Nothing new on my home front. I still want to lose 10 pounds and I'll probably die wanting to lose 10 pounds. I found out yesterday that there is no way I can get my expenses paid by the City of Nixa community center where I fell. I've talked to two attorneys and they both have said to just forget it. They said if I had permanent disablity or more severe injury it might work but that slip and falls are the hardest to get settled even with a broken bone because if you have to go to a jury you'll most likely lose, especially if you have a good recovery, and the insurance companies know this so they just deny liability and there's nothing else to do. I am a little bummed about paying the deductible myself but that's just the way life goes. I know the floor was dangerously slick and that is what caused my fall but I'll just have to get over it!!

I talked to Stacy (DD) last night and they were snowed in again. She said there was a drift in her driveway that was as tall as the top of Shon's little pickup roof. Adam has only had 1/2 day of school since Christmas. Also, highway 169, the highway from her house to St. Joe, was closed yesterday afternoon by blowing drifting snow. However, I talked to her this AM and her boyfriend made it home from St. Joe so I guess they opened it this morning.

We are obviously having school today but classes haven't started at MSU so it's just the Staff who had to come out in this zero weather. My cat won't even go out the door but I have to!!! Whine, whine, whine.

I think I'm catching a cold/sinus infection because I woke up really stuffed up but it may just be all the dry hot air from the furnace and the heater in my office here at work. I think our ductwork in the office needs cleaning because two of the other folks who work in here just "shut down" their sinuses almost as soon as they come through the doors.

I guess this cold weather will make us appreciate
Spring more when it finally gets here. I know I'll gripe about heat and humidity this Summer but right now it sounds pretty good.

Hugs and love to all of you and I'll be at the Library for Circle of Friends on 1/25/10 at 6:30. Unless I pull one of my dumb stunts and forget.

"WLS is about making better choices, a healthier lifestyle and seeing how little you can eat.  Portion control is the key to all weight loss surgeries.  Bottom line - it isn't how much you can eat - it is how little you can eat."

Good morning OH,

Jan you know I wish I could come and pick you up on the way to AZ, but I'm gonna have to postpone my trip til next year cause I'm getting ready for my WLS journey. I hate this cold stuff like all of you too, not lookin forward to driving to town to pick up meds and do a little grocery shopping, but we gotta do it, DH said he would go but he can't see all that good, and with all the snow I'm afraid he'd end up in the ditch. Oh well, gotta do what we gotta do.

I have quit the Afrin, still using the saline, and the ER Dr. told me to dab just a little neo-sporin (I use the generic) in my nose after using Ayr Gel, said it will help fight off the bacteria that cause a lot of irritaion. I have had nose bleeds before also, but not like that, I guess the difference was the break was at the back of my sinus cavity and the blood thinners I take made it bleed worse. I don't know why the Dr. asked why I was still using Plavix, it's been 4 years since I had my stint put in and he acted like they should have taken me off the plavix when I didn't have anymore problems, he said I should have just been taking the aspirin, it does the same thing as the Plavix. Just makes me wonder if the medical proffesionals really know what they're doing?

Susie, I'm gonna try the yogurt, I love yogurt know, just hope after the surgery I still love it.

I'm gonna post this and get my fridge cleaned out, DH wants some pickled eggs and my pickled egg jar is in the fridge with refrigerator pickles in it. I think the pickles are almost gone so gonna clean it out, get it ready for the eggs.

Hope everyone stays warm, Jan try to find something fun to do I know it's hard to be cooped up, will talk to ya all tomorrow.
