WHATS HAPPENING SATURDAY 1-2-10

Well all the holidays are over with for awhile and here it is the second day of January all ready….

Oh man I am just sick and tired of this weather….I cant go outside without freezing to death and even sitting in the house I have my snuggie and a blanket wrapped around me plus my fleece lined boots on to keep my feet warm….they really work well.

Joe said well maybe we need to sell everything off and go where it is warm all the time. He is hurting too because of the cold weather….and the last few days he has been doing work either on his knees or bent over so his knees have been really hurting him bad. Maybe I can talk him into AZ soon.

We noticed that the laminate flooring in our kitchen appeared to be warping up so Joe pulled up a couple pieces and there was water all under it…..looking futher there was a tiny water leak at the back of the sink….so that took awhile to fix …he didn’t have the elbow that he needed so has to go looking for it from the neighbors ….everyone down here helps everyone out , now next time we go to town we will buy two or three of those pieces and give the one back to the neighbor and we will have a couple of spares of it…that way if we ever need it again we will have it. Or if someone else needs it we will have it.

We finally got a ventless heater for the green house , that is good cause I will need it soon to keep the heat at a steady rate more or less for my new seeds.

Was going to take down the outside lights today but was too cold and tomorrow is suppose to be worse. So don’t know when we will get them all down. tHopefully we will get them down today don’t know.

I about froze all night last night and I had the mattress pad up to 3 and all the covers over me finally pulled our huge big comforter over me and that was heavy enough that I started getting warm don’t know why I was so cold until I got up this morning and the temp was 12 degree out side brrrrrrrr too cold for me to go out to do anything today. Joe will have to do all the outside stuff, feed the animals and get them water…take out the trash and get the mail…I aint going out there ….

JO::::: I think we all struggle with what to order when we go out to eat. Usually I will ask Joe if he wants to share but if he doesn’t I will order usually an appetizer but usually most of the appetizers are fried stuff

So most of the time I get a bowl of soup or chili. Stand bys.

When trying to find a protein that you like just remember that the only protein that you get 100percent of it is 100% Whey protein , there are lots of others but our bodies don’t use them very well.

Did you get to exercise yesterday in your craft room or did you stay in the cleaning mode.?

LOU :::: I love your outfit, that is so so cute. Wish I were young enough to wear something like that lol

I bet Frank thinks he has a totally new wife anymore….sounds like you all had a great time new years eve.

Now get rested up for the work week ahead.

Have you started doing taxes yet?

JEANIE-RAE:::: I hope you get to feeling better, I know when you have lung problems that a cold can be devastating. I use to have chronic bronchitis but don’t anymore since it has been so long ago that I quit smoking my lungs are fine now.

The instructions for the plarn is simple and all but I cant read crochet instructions, they might as well be in Greek. Will brink my ball of plarn and needle to the meeting and you can show me what I need to do. My skills consists of being able to make a chain stitch and use to know how to make granny squares. Use to make rag rugs by crocheting them lol so pretty limited on knowledge.

Hi OH,

Jan I'll be glad to help you with the stitches and the directions. I love to crochet, my mom did it and pretty much taught me. Making things out of Plarn are pretty simple.

Starting to feel better, now if I can get rid of the coughing, and my nose dripping I think I'll beat this cold. Sure isn't a good way to start the year off. But then again maybe it will be the only one I get.

Gonna post this, hope everbody stays warm, Jan I really feel for you, I don't plan on going anywhere unless it's an absolutely necessary thing. Gonna get colder this week, and maybe some snow down here in the southern part of MO. I don't mind the snow but when they talk about the teens for high I really want to go south. Maybe selling the property and buying a nice Motorhome, then we could go where the weather is best. LOL

Talk to ya tomorrow.

It's cold and getting colder.  I'm hoping this cold winter will end soon and we can have a mild winter.  Yes, Jan, I agree that moving to a warmer climate would be great.  Not sure I would like AZ in the summer though.

We went out to breakfast this morning.  I had half a pumpkin pancake, an egg and 2 strips of bacon.  The egg was okay but I still don't care much for them.

Hard to believe people are out of work and money is short.  I went to Kohl's and Target and could hardly find a place to park.  People were shopping like crazy.

I did look at Target for that protein someone taked about on another message board, but they didn't have it.  The only protein I ever buy is whey.  Target had samples of Special K protein drink.  Thank goodness because I sampled it and put back the 4 pack I had in my basket.  Nasty tasting.

I'm having a problem eating.  Nothing sounds good or really tastes good.  Tonight I made Chili and it was pretty good.  The best tasting thing is crackers and that's not good because of the carbs.  I'm gettin my protein in although that's difficult because I'm not liking any protein supplements except Click. I only use 1 scoop so that's just 7 grams of protein.

I did some sewing yesterday.  Today, I steam cleaned the floors.  Love that little steamer.  This evening I'm going thru all my cooking magazines and pulling out any healthy recipes and tossing the magazine.

Something about New Year's that makes want to clean and organize.

Hi Jo,

Saw your post on the protein drinks. I had a horrible time getting mine in as well, couldnt drink the nasty whey powder from walmart, tried New Whey from GNC and Isopure as well. Couldnt stand the taste and texture of that. So I went on a quest.

You need to check out www.bariatriceating.com their inspire protein is amazing, it also has 30 grams of protein in 4 oz of water. I have tried all their flavors except the peanut butter cookie and have yet to be disappointed. One of my friends and my cousins wife have also had WLS and I have let them try my inspire protein drinks. HONESTLY you do not taste the protein at all. And they arent too badly priced.  I have also tried their Lean Desserts protein and a few of their protein shake recipes and they are wonderful too.

That website also has great recipes. the gal who owns the site is a WLS patient also and the recipes are amazing and she includes the nutrition aspects as well.

Good luck to you,

Mary

I'm familiar with BE and have ordered from them.  The few times I've ordered it's take a couple weeks to get my order plus the shipping charges are high unless you order $75 and I can't always do that.  Yesterday I saw a message about Inspire and problems mixing it.  Susan responded that it should be mixed with 4 oz. of water then add ice.  I tried that last night with the Peanut Butter and it worked well.  I really liked it.  I was using too much water.

GNC has Lean Dessert and I tried one flavor I liked but not fond of the Cinnamon Roll, but it is good in coffee.

After over 18 months of protein shakes (I started before surgery), I think I'm just tired of them.

I am going to order the Believe RTD next week and a bunch of other stuff.  So far, I've not found a RTD I like.  They all taste like Slim Fast leaving that nasty taste.

BE is a good site but I disagree on limiting carbs to 50 a day.  My dietician says it's okay to have good carbs.  I'm usually around 100 a day.
