Had a really tough time of it. The pain has been sooo bad and I wasn't too impressed with some of the nursing care there. :( The rooms were tiny and I was soo ready to come home even though I was still in so much pain! Been trying to walk and sip like crazy. This has to get better right??!
I am feeling better since getting home though! I think I needed out of there!

Thanks Jan! I really needed to be home and resting. So much better than the hospital. One of the nurses at the hospital told me to stop crying and walked out the door. Bearing in mind I was in so much pain I couldn't breathe (and had told her as much) and I am the type to bottle it in normally! My hubby phoned her up and told her off!! He happened to phone me just as I had gone through it! Joy! I think she wasn't very impressed at having to work NYEve!! Maybe that was why?! Anyway she gave me some morphine after that happened after finally contacting the doctor. I just couldn't believe how much it hurt! I hobble like an old woman. Oh dear! It really is feeling better now I am at home with my family. Phew!

WOW Jo!!!!!!  None of the nurses were jerks to Adam, but during the night they tried to give him a prilosec in pill form.  He told her he couldn't"t have that and she left and came back later with prilosec to go in his IV.  She was a complete Douche bag!!!!!!
It does get better.  A lot of people regret the surgery right after wards and then they love it when they start feeling a bit normal again.  And after the weight starts coming off the energy you feel is awesome!
I hope you feel better soon.

From another Jo in Missouri, yes it will get better.  I was in the hospital for 4 days and had severe nausua.  There were a couple days when I thought being fat wasn't so bad, but once the nausua went away, I've had no problems.

It's so worth it!!

After being home for one night I feel so much better. The pain is manageable, the room is nice and noone woke me up all night!!! I only woke up at 2:30 for pain meds and I feel great! I am sitting here sipping on my protein sample from Chike and doing great!! I am being pampered by my dh and he is my super hero right now! Thanks for all the wishes!
Glad Adam had a better time than me Joann (do you go by Jo or Joann...the drugs are affectingme??!). I saw different nurses go into his room! How is he doing at home? It was soo good to see you there! Thanks for "visiting" Sorry I didn't really reciprocate...I was so out of it...!!

I answer to Jo, Joann, and sometimes other names.
Adam hasn't needed any pain meds--I am so surprised.  I was worried that he wasn't drinking enough fluids or getting enough protein yesterday.  I know in the beginning you can't get it all in, but he really wasn't hardly getting any.  I guess a good night sleep did him good because today he is doing much better today.  At the one week doctors appointment we should let them know about our nurse stories.  Seriously we do have a good bariatric group of doctors and nurses, and that is a real good hospital, but the nurses we ran into need to be dealt with.

I had a very bad experience once with the hospital I had been a patient in several times. This YOUNG nurse was a CAT scan Tech with the ER and everyone else could not have been kinder or more caring as I had always experienced before. So I wrote a very detailed letter to the hospital president and department head when I was released from the hospital. Within 2 days I had received phone calls from both and a few days later I received a very brief but apologetic note from the nurse. I had been told by both superiors that if I had not received a letter from her within a week of our conversation to please contact them immediately. I could tell it was not sincere but I knew at least they had followup with my concerns with her which is all I wanted. I was very careful to not make it a personal attack (nearly burned up the backspace key censoring it) but I listed problems and name and time of incident so they could identify the person easily.
You might want to do the same with your poor treatment.
Good luck and sorry you had to experience such poor care and behavior,
Connie B.
