Back when we trained in STL we went to Barnes Jewish and Dr. Eagon proctored us.  The staff said he was great and that several people that worked in the OR had went to him and thier insurance at the hospital covered it.  That might be a place to check with.

Thanks L.R. I am at the point that I am willing to move if needed to do so to get insurance that will cover it. I'll check it out. Was he doing RNY or band? Is that what you were doing in Spfd?

In STL Dr. Eagon does the band and RNY.  Here in Springfield at Ferrell Duncan Clinic they are only doing the band ( Cox Hostpital).  At St. Johns here in Springfield, Dr. Edwards does the band and RNY.  Lou

Thanks Lou. In looking into Springfield I was only finnding the band not RNY. Being a surgical nurse for so many years doing the wls of both types do you have prefeerence or opinion on outcomes? From your picture you look marvelous.

Thanks Sally!  I think that its a personal choice.  I know alot of of people that have done well with the band and also with the RNY.  I chose the RNY because I needed to loose a large amount of weight and I needed to do it pretty fast for health reasons.  Plus I had horrific reflux.  My surgeon didn't think the band would be a good option for me because of the reflux. The band of coarse is less invasive and I think you get to go home the same day.  They don't have to cut any bowel or your stomach.  My best advise is to research all your surgical options on here and feel free to ask any questions.  There are bandsters on here, DS, RNY and sleeves.  I think there will be someone on here that has info or can answer any questions you have.  Lou ;)
