Daily Bible Reading - Friday - December 4th
***Jan*** I’ve really enjoyed doing this post, it’s taught me so much this past year. Not sure I’ll continue it after the end of the month, we’ll see I guess. No nothings been wrong, I’m not sick or super busy, I’ve just had my mind concentrating on other areas plus I got behind in the reading when I had the flu and am still getting caught up, it really adds up when you don’t read for a few days, shocked me that I got so far behind, I should be caught up in a few days.
Today’s Reading
Daniel 11:36-12:13
1 John 4:1-21
Psalm 123:1-4
Proverbs 29:2-4
Daily Devotional
"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom"
(Psalm 90:12, NIV)
Sometimes, our days can be so full and busy that we forget how fragile life really is. It can be easy to allow little things to creep in and steal our peace and joy. Something doesn't go our way, or someone says something upsetting. Even traffic can cause us to lose focus if we let it. We have to remember that each day is a gift. If we choose to focus on what's wrong, we'll miss the beauty that each day has to offer.
I encourage you today; don't let the precious moments of life pass you by. Don't wait for holidays and birthdays to show people that you care. Remember, each day is unique and irreplaceable. You have been given time that can be invested or wasted; hours that can be used or misused. That's why the psalmist prayed to God, "Teach us to number our days." He was saying, "Teach us to value every moment we've been given." As you daily keep a proper perspective, you'll gain a heart of wisdom. You'll draw closer to God and experience the full blessing that He has for you each and every day!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
"Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of today. I choose to focus on the blessing of each moment instead of allowing the little things to steal my joy. Keep me close to You always as I submit every area of my heart and mind to You. In Jesus' Name. Amen."
I too am still behind but sure plan to do something about it yet and be caught up by the end of the month and finish on time with the end of the year. I have several days off here at the first of the week that hopefully I can get back on trac.
I too have gotten so very much out of this this year... it was timely for me as I went thru the largest portion of my weight loss this year and it sure helped me to stay focused.
I too want to thank you for your faithfulness to do this post. I think I am going to read the scripture straight thru this next year as I also have that type bible, but think I like this way better as the Psalms and Proverbs give such "meat and encouragement" for each day....
