Need Ideas Please - Adopt a Family - Angel Tree

Good Morning, MO Peeps!

Our church is adopting two families from the Mayors Christmas Tree Adopt a Family Program.  We have two families that each of 4 children.  So there are a total of 8 children for our church to buy for.

I want to have a Christmas Tree with cut out angels that has each of the kids #(the city assigns), gender, age, sizes for shirts, pants, socks, shoes, etc along with items they are wishing for.  There will be numerous angels for each kid that will have a couple items each of them.  The problem is I need to know who is going to purchase what.  I need a way to keep track of it.  Anyone have any ideas?  I'm afraid if I just put the Angels up on the tree and have no record of who took what, I won't know what we still needs to be purchased after the church family gets what they're going to for each child.  I did this at our old church, however, it was a LOT smaller so I had no problem.  Need to be able to streamline this one.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Deb,
Why not put enough  cut out angels with the assigned  numbers  to represent each thing needed for each child.  Make a running log of who takes what.  Have them fill out a paper with the info. and as they turn it in have a paper bell or cross placed on the tree.  You will end up with a tree of crosses and you will know what is there.  Just an idea.l  God bless, Colette

Why not assign each angel on the tree what is needed and the church family members can select what they want to buy when they select the angels? Such as boy age 7 size M shirt or girl age 10 size whatever sweater. Then list "Wished For....." on other angels. Of course you are going to have a few that 'don't play well with others' shall we say and do whatever they want. There seems to always be a few in the crowd. But at least that way you will have some sort of an idea what to plan for. The only other way I can think of is to have monetary donation for essentials angels and you do the shopping for the clothing and such.
However it all works out bless your heart for taking on the responsibility of such an honorable deed,
Connie

My church does this and we're a fairly large church.  The tags are put on the tree showing the age and item wanted.  There is a table set up on
Sunday with people to record who took a tag and what was on it.  You take a tag and show it to the person at the table.

Jo,

This is along the idea I was thinking of.  Can you tell me if the person at the table just wrote down who got what tag?  Did they use some sort of chart?  My brain is a little mixed up at this point....it does that sometimes!

Thanks,

They have a list of the tags and write down the name of the person that took that tag.  The gifts are due back a week before the deadline so that they have time to buy any gifts that weren't bought.
