Revision from lapband to gastric bypass
I have a good friend that is looking at getting a revision done..... she has not been able to loose any more weight and she recently went in and had a scope done and found out that she had issues with staple line disruption (hence the need for the revision).. she told me that she was going to try to get this done after the first of the year if possible.
I will see if I can get her to post in here to you.... she is in missouri....

HI Jan,
Aside from it just not working, I didn't really have any trouble with the band. That being said, I've had some pain in the band area (this is new) so I'll be asking my dr. about that. It was so weird. Sometimes I'd go to get a fill and when they took out the fill I had less or sometimes more than what was supposed to be in there. The restriction would change on its own sometimes getting looser or tighter even though I hadn't had a fill. I'm not talking about the fluctuation that sometimes happens at differnt times of the day but a siginificant change that might last a few days or a few weeks. The problem was that I had no control - no one seemed to. It was frustrating to say the least.
I"m sorry to hear that the LB to GBP people haven't posted much because we could certainly learn from them. Thank you for your response and offer of support!

Hi, I had my RNY Gastric Bypass in May 2004; just last week I was scoped and they discovered I had Staple Line Disruption (nothing life threatening) but it is keeping me from losing weight ...as a matter of fact i've gained back about 30 pounds this last year.
I am researching it now - and I am trying to get some additional information on revisions here in St. Louis - it is my understanding there are only two surgeons that do this in St. Louis. Dr. James Scott and Dr. Chris Eagon.
Would appreciate any thing you know about the procedure or the doctors as well.

Elizabeth,
I"m sorry to hear about the problems that you're having. It must be frustrating. Are you having any pain? How did you learn that you had a problem? What were your symptoms?
My Dr. is Dr. Eagon and he is the one who has suggested my revision (I was thinking this too - so we were on the same page) and I really like him. What I don't like is the 1.5 to 2.5 hour wait at each appointment. HOwever, they have hired another surgeon so maybe that will not be so bad in the future. He's a good man and seems to genuinely care. He worked hard to try and figure out what was wrong with my band and I appreciated that. I don't know anything about the procedure though. I'm only revising from lapband to RNY Gastric Bypass so I'm not familiar with the issues the bypass poses - not in real life anyway - I've only read about them.

Thanks for the reply.....
No I'm not having any direct pain..... just having a lot of indigestion...... and within the last year I have gained back between 25 - 30 pounds ..... that is extremely frustrating ..... after all I went through to lose the weight.....
I went back to my original bypass surgeon and he suggested I have a scoping done.... it was during the scoping it was determined that I had staple disruption.
Which office do you see Dr. Eagon at..... I understand he has an office on Mason Road as well as the one by big Barnes.....
