3 weeks left...need last minute tips and advice

My surgery date is 3 weeks from today....starting my liquids in 1 week. Just wanting to hear all those last minute supplies that I may have forgotten about, last minute tips/pointers, that kind of thing.  I've got my vitamins, Iron, and Calcium per my Dr.s  orders, got about 20 samples of proteins to start me next week, and also have some RTD shakes to get me started.

Starting to get really nervous, which I know is normal.

Thanks

Papaya enzymes are good to have on hand after you start eating. I  only wanted really cold things early out. Shaved ice was a godsend. Sugar free pops should be on your list. Pudding cups were my first food . I had refried beans in the pantry but didn't care for them. I ate an egg fairly early out. I found I didn't need most of what I bought. Vitamins are important and protein. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Best of luck on the liquids. Chicken and beef broth,as well as sugar free pops helped on the liquids. You will do fine just remember the end result is worth it.

something you need to take to the hospital with you is gas x strips. if the gas pain**** you while in the hospital you can use that without it hurting anything at all....also another thing to take to hospital with you is lip balm or what ever you like to use...and a pillow to help cushion your tummy when riding home. not a lot else worried about taking to hosp...i took my lounging pants and tops cause i didnt want to wear that ole gown. of course i took things that i didnt need and didnt feel like looking at or doing when i was awake i walked and walked and walked some more...
good luck on the liquid diet , not easy and probably the hardest part you will have to do either before or later. Just follow your doctors orders and you will be fine. take care and come on the board daily you will get to know us and we you.
remember what i tell everyone....KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE...

Your day will be here before you know it.  I was never nervous about surgeries except the RNY, but I never, ever thought of backing out.  Absolutely no regrets.

Hiya Momcassy!

Well I am just a bit ahead of you - had surgery last Monday, 8/24, and NO REGRETS!!!

As far as the liquid diet - I got a lot of advice here on the board, and all good!  Chicken and Beef broth are good, but the sugar free popsicles are great to keep you distracted.  Someone told me "The first 4 days are the hardest".  They were right.  But it REALLY DOES get a bit easier after that.  It is no cakewalk, that's for sure, but remember - FOOD = BIG LIVER = NO SURGERY!

If you have a weak moment, and want to eat, try music, and chewing gum.... and of course a good ol sugar free popsicle!

I hope this helps!
