Diet Records?

Ok the brain is malfunctioning today. I get that you have to be able to show that traditional diets don't work, but I havn't kept a physical record of all the diets I've been on. I'm diabetic and am supposed to follow a low calorie, low fat, low carb diet. I have been doing this for the past  how ever many years, unfortunately what ever weight I lose comes back and then some. So I quess my question is, If I can show the weight loss and gains in my medical record will that be sufficient for medicars?

I haven't had to worry this much about writing since I went back to school. Guess that's the frame of mind I need to get myself into.

Just had to get that concern off my mind, but if someone out there can give me a tip or two I'd really appreciate it.

It all depends on your coverage. I have Missouri State Med Pay and I had to have six months specifically devoted to a diet and exercise program but if you are Medicare I think your doctors records would be good. Someone will answer you I'm sure.
Welcome to the board - I haven't seen you before.

"WLS is about making better choices, a healthier lifestyle and seeing how little you can eat.  Portion control is the key to all weight loss surgeries.  Bottom line - it isn't how much you can eat - it is how little you can eat."

Hi Lana, I am returning. Joined in '07, between the long distance driving and my PCP I decided to put off surgery.

I am a worrier and stress over some minor things sometimes. Really appreciate the people on this board. It is a lot of help.

I have Aetna.  They required 3 months of monitored diet and exercise plus 5 years from doctors showing my weight.  The last couple years I had refused to weigh at my primary doctor's office so I had to find a couple specialists to verify my weight.

Your doctor's records of your weight should be sufficient.

Well the five years of weight loss and gain I can show. I have been good about doing my blood work and other things.

Thank-you for the info.

i am Medicare and all i did was write down to the best  of my memory....just think back you can probably remember something to k the time .....yes your doctor records will count a lot...but if you tried something special like in the early 60s then put it down ....if you dieted before you were dignosed with diabetis. ....who is your doctor some times their office help can help you some.
medicare is more about what the doctors say anyway. you have to be over normal weight at least 100 pounds and have co morbiditis....like diabetis, high blood pressure, etc etc.
good luck i hated to fill out those papers. my doctor Dr. Hornbostel i think used those papers to be able to fill out their papers to medicare....ok" good to see you back .

went to my pcp today, she is in the st. john's system, Dr. Edwards is the one I'll be going to is also St. John', She said they can exchange most of my info through their new upgraded patient record system, and the rest I can authorize to get through my previour pcp. It meant alot to get positive feedback from her, then my husband's cardiologist said Dr. Edwards is a very good surgeon. So starting to get excited now, can't wait till i go to seminar.

I do have diabetes, my blood pressure is up, and am oxygen 24/7. want off the O2, and most of the meds i have to take and want to spend at least one more summer camping and fishing like i used to do when my kids were young .

Thank-you Jan, it is really great to have a place to share all of this with. I read every day what I can even if I don't post things like what's happening today are good.
