Daily Bible Reading - Saturday August 22nd
Poor Job was really going through it, he really wanted to die and be put out of his misery but like he said the second time he talked he has cursed God or hasn’t rejected Gods word. That’s what satan was wanting Job to do is reject Gods word and curse Him. We’ll see in the next few chapters or so that things with Job only get worse, he wont curse God though. Reading that sure makes me think on some of the tough times I myself have gone through, sure wasn’t anything near what Job went through, makes me sit back and take a look at my life and my needs, when I do that God seems to be bringing to mind one scripture, Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.(KJV) Lets look at how a couple other versions of the bible puts that. THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack. (Amplified) A Psalm of David. Jehovah [is] my shepherd, I do not lack (Youngs Literal Trans.) The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need (New Living Trans) As we see, if we’ll just take Psalm 23:1 and apply it to our daily lives we wont want for anything. IF we are His sheep and He is OUR Shepherd then that verse applies to us, right? Our needs will be met according to that and I know Gods Word is true, amen! Keep saying that verse to yourself all day, it’ll become revelation to you.

John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let you heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful"
We all have times when people or cir****tances come against us. Times when we feel cheated, mistreated, wronged, or taken advantage of. Maybe you’re facing a difficulty today and you’re not exactly sure how to handle it. If we look to the Word, we see that Jesus set a powerful example for us to follow. Here He was the King of kings and the Lord of lords in human form. He carried all the power in Heaven and earth inside of Him. Yet, when He was about to go to the cross, when the people were mocking Him, ridiculing Him, persecuting Him, and lying about Him, He didn’t try to defend Himself. He didn’t try to set the record straight. Do you know what He did? He just rested in the place of peace. He rested in who He was. He stood strong knowing that God, His Father, would deliver Him and He would have victory in the end.
When things aren't going right or you feel like you’re being treated unfairly, you can do what Jesus did and stand strong in the place of peace. You can find security knowing that you are a child of the Most High God and He promises to deliver you. Remember this: Jesus said, "Peace be with you." He said, "My peace I leave with you." Hold on to that peace because nothing can take it from you unless you give it away. Don’t let offense creep in. Offense is a liar. It will steal from you and drag you down. It will erode your self-esteem and rob you of everything that Jesus has already done for you. Instead, find confidence in knowing who you are in Jesus Christ. Because He died, you can live in power. Because of what He bore, you get all the rewards—you get the peace, the power, the strength, and the anointing to overcome every obstacle you will ever face.
Some of the verses that were in Job this morning that I underlined sure could go along with the devotional today...
Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.
Yet man is born to trouble as surely as the sparks fly upward.
I had to get a smile at that verse as a character on my favorite movie quoted it... (Anne of Green Gables)
Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
Teach me and I will be quiet; show me where I have been wrong. How painful are honest words!
All these verses are the words of Job... I have really enjoyed reading his thoughts and the thoughts of Eliphaz...as I had forgotten some of them.
I thought this verse in Corinthians was worded interestingly:
In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.
Had to give that a bit of thought... was good for me.
So many parts of the Psalm was good today:
The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. The law of his God is in his heart and his feet do not slip.
Wait for the Lord and keep his way.
Consider the blameless, observe the upright, there is a future for the man of peace.
The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
Boy that is just plain ole good word for us today... I can't even know how many times in the scriptures we are admonished to draw close to the Master and we will be so much better off!
I need to hide some of this good word in my heart that I might not go astray!
Blessing to all this beautiful day!
