What about meds after surgery?
I take 10 different pills during the day, for conditions related to my weight, some are for heart problems, some for diabetes, and so on. will I have to crush these meds? Most of them I can see no problem, there is one that has to stay solid until it gets to my colin, I have to use it because all the meds I take cause inflammatory condition.
I'm also concerned about that will it keep me from being a candidate for RNY if I have this problem? Man I want this surgery but I find something new everyday to make me think I may not be a good candidate.
I know this is probably something that the seminar will answer for me but if anybody has had similar concerns and can give a little info I will appreciate it.

GOD BLESS YOU TODAY
JAN COOK
I registered for Oct 3 with Dr Edwards at St. Johns in Springfield. I'm in the system there since we changed to Humana for our Medicare Supplemental. They have my history and all in record so I hope that most of what I can't remeber they will be able to help me with. I have a hard time remembering all the dates and how long and all that about dieting. It seems like and unending fight for me.
Can be doing good for a while then it all goes down the tubes. But the main reason I'm trying to do surgery is to get off all the meds, plus I'm on oxygen 24/7 and don't really need it if I can lose weight I'm sure I can disconnect the hose.
Thanks Jan for your answers, I'm getting excited now. Have told all 4 of my kids and they are very supportive. I have 10 Grandbabies and I am making one of my goals to be able to spend time with them playing.
My Name is Nancy Gordon and I live in Kirksville, MO. I take 11 pills; 4 vitamins/minerals and
5 shot of two different types insulin for diabetis. I have ALL of the comorbidities listed .plus
other conditions.
In addition to those and co morbids, I am 66 years and just knew I would not be accepted
for wls. However, I'm scheduled for 9/11 w/ Dr. Phillip Hornbostel in Sedalia, MO. He is
super careful . I have had to have a scope so he could look @everything, he also sent me to
a pulmonary specialist because I used to smoke and has all my med records and decided
that I should and would be able to have the surgery. I still have the same risks but I am
determined to follow instructions to a T and come thru hopefully, no more meds and a lot
less wt. and more mobility.
Don't listen to others about your decision to do this. I even had someone ask me why I
would even consider this at my age. Like I am about to die. Well, that made me mad. I
hope this will extend my life and have a better quality of life. Worth the risks.
Good luck to you and let me know how you're doing. I start the 14 day countdown next week
with a liquid diet.
Keep in touch!!
Hi Nancy,
Thank-you for the reply it's good to hear from somebody that has the same co morbids that I have. I don't inject but have two pills for blood sugar control. I did smoke until almost 3 years ago, lungs are in pretty good shape but my weight keeps mo on oxygen.
At 58 years old, I can still have a good life and if having this surgery means 10 to 15 years more of life then it's worth any risk, After all we deal with risks everyday.
God bless you and I'll keep in touch, please do the same. I want to know how your surgery goes.
