What Is Happening Saturday

Good morning everyone hope your saturday is going well for you all.hope it stay's nice but they are calling for rain sometime today.august the first already where did the month of july go to already.time sure does fly by when you are having fun.lol.

andy and i went to branson last night to see some friend's of our's who were up here from tulsa.they are more like family to us.i have know them since i was 6 year's old.the dad is a minister he helped with our wedding.his wife and two daughter's were in our wedding too.we had a nice vist with them.

went yesterday morning to see my dad.he is doing good.the nursing home is getting rid of some worker's right and left though.dont know what is going on there.the one's they have let go all have been soo nice to my dad and us.
a few week's ago the lady who was the one who ran thing's around there was let go and yesterday the don left and the soc service's lady too.her office was cleaned out before she even got there.the lady in the front office told me she cannot even give any resident's and money out of their account's at the moment because there is no one there to sign any check's till the head office send's her a list of people who can sign them.they wont' let her sign any just fill them out and the  people who have to sign a check  none of them are left.i hope they dont decide to close the home down.my dad is happy there.

jan thank you for taking over what is happening.maybe i can do it again someday.

jo how is your long weekend going for you?mid day would be ok for what is happening.we all have done it late sometime's.

Hello All,

This summer has been so busy!!! Grandkids are keeping me so busy. I love it!

We are going to a family annual fish fry today in Warrensburg and then Pack the suitcase Monday and Tuesday, pick up the rental car on Wednesday and leave at 5:30 am on Thursday to go to Mesquite Texas to see my brother. I am so excited! My son and two granddaughters are going with me.

Susan I will pray your dad gets to stay where he is happy.

I will help with the board when I return from my trip. Sorry I can't help this next week. I know it is work but, we need to stay close and this is the best way for all.

Are we doing the Sedalia picnic this year or did I miss it? LOL

Eventho I don't always respond to all posts, you are all in my prayers and my heart. Wish I could meet each and everyone of you!

Hi Everyone!

Been busy this week in the garden and now the tomatos are really starting to ripen.  I went over yesterday evening and picked up a bucketfull of green ones that had fallen off the vines.  If they don't ripen in a few days I will try to make some relish with them.  Going to make bread & butter pickles today with the last of the cucumbers. 

We have been eating alot of my famous garden mixture of cucumbers, tomatos, peppers & onions and anything else you want to throw in it with a bottle of italian dressing and chill.  It is so good on cottage cheese or on top of a hamburger steak etc...  I can't seem to get enough of it this year.  No one leaves here without a container of it.  I have given away all my little plastic containers that fit in the round thing in the cabinet so I guess I will have to put out an emergency call for my containers to come back.

We got rain overnight.  The weather continues to be wonderful especially for July and now August.  Can't believe it's already August.

I am getting a lot done.  I am painting the furnace closet.  It had never been painted or if it had, didn't look like it.  Right now I'm waiting for a couple globs of spackle to dry.  There were 2 really large holes in the wall.  I stuffed newspaper in the holes and spackled over it.

Yesterday I worked on altering slacks for a co-worker.  One pair needed to be shortened and had cuffs....ugh.....I don't like doing cuffs but I did them.  One pair of slacks needs a new zipper.  Not much fun but it makes me some extra cash. 

Is it Andy that has the pickle recipe?  Hubby has cucumbers coming on like crazy.  I don't like them but would like to make some pickles.  Years ago I did make several varieties of pickles but haven't made them in years. 

Susan, hope things straighten out where your dad is.  I know it's hard to find a place where your loved one likes it and get good care.

Time for me to get back to my painting then I can do something fun like read or sew for me.   I have several things I either had never worn or worn only a couple times that need altering so I might as well fix them rather than make something new.  I'm hoping to drop another couple sizes.

There was a nice gentle, soft rain the whole time I walked this morning... I had my umbrella with me so it was not bad at all, I kinda enjoyed it.

A small fox ran right out in front of me! Normally that would be fascinating to me but all I could think of was if it would get in and hurt Paul's "ladies".  We lost one this week and so I have had to console the hubby ...~tee hee.   She started laying eggs and all of her insides come out and the egg was all encased in there... I operated, we medicated and did everything we knew to do and everything others told us to do but she just did not do well... so Paul had to lay her to rest.   Now he is down to seven ladies... I was so thankful it was not "Tess" the special one... we are getting six "pullet" eggs every day and then there is one that lays "soft" eggs... don't know why she doesn't eat the mash and it do the right thing?  Anyway sure hope the rest of them stay healthy and safe.  And that bad ole fox stays away!

Mimi~ I have had Jo taking pics of all the pretty blooms around here... it just thrills me... at the end of the season I'm going to make a cd of all of them and send it to you.

Jo ~ I ought to get busy and get some sewing done too I sure have enough I want to do.... still have to get my machine worked on though... will have to concentrate on that.

I also have a project I am going to work on for the neighbor... her husband got some pallets at work and she wants a flag painted on one of them... will have to see what I can do with that.  Your sewing room sounds neat... I sure hope you enjoy it muchly.

Well I need to catch up on the bible reading so think I will go make me a shake and go out on the porch and listen to the fountain and see how far I can get in being caught up.

does anyone have the crockpot receipe for the apple butter?  Would they be kind enough to post it on here. I picked the apples from my dwarf tree and decided to make apple butter and use as gifts. I also made 2 big pies.  they are warm and sitting on counter.  Thanks, Colette

These apples remind me of the apples Cracker Barrel server but these are healthy.

6 large apples, cored, peeled & chopped into 1/2" pieces
1/2 cup Splenda
2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. salt
3 T. SF butterscotch pudding mix
2 t. lemon juice
2 t. vanilla
1 cup boiling water*

*Next time I will cut back on the water as mine were a little more syrupy than I wanted.  Probably depends on how juicy the apples are.

Put all the ingredients in the pot except the water and toss to coat.  Pour boiling water oer the top and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours.
