Daily Bible Reading - Saturday August 1st

Can you believe it?  August 1st is here.  Where has the summer gone?  Where has time gone?  Seems just the other day we all started reading the bible together, now we are over half way there.  I was sitting here last night thinking about the last 8 months and seeing how God has really blessed me and how much I’ve learned by reading the scriptures from the beginning.  There have been some things that I had never thought were even in the bible.  God has so many things for us to learn in His Word and I know there is so much more to learn.  Last night when we met up with our friends we had not seen in years it really brought me back to the days when Susan and I were serving the Lord full time and seeing Him work the miracles we always hear about but don’t see very often.  You know God has not changed one bit from 15 years ago until today.  It’s us that have changed.  God’s Word is still the same.  After I got home I was listening to a Pastors wife from a Church in Branson and she was talking about how we think God has changed with the times and so forth but it’s us and that it’s not too late to get back to what God originally had planned for our lives.  It was a real wake up call for me.  Please keep Susan and I in your prayers as we seek exactly what God wants us to do.  We know in general what we He wants for us but specifically what He wants we are really seeking out.  I don’t want to be making a wrong turn on a path that has no exits, if that makes any sense.  Like today’s devotional says, God don’t want us sitting around feeling sorry for ourselves or feeling overwhelmed with things, He wants us out there helping others in need and our needs and feelings will come into place when we serve Him and help others no matter what.  Just like Job, he didn’t sit around feeling sorry for himself even though he was going through some tough cir****tances; he kept right on keeping on.  Like the scripture says, as we give it will be given back to us, good measure, pressed down and running over.

Today’s Reading

Psalm 25:1-15
Proverbs 20:13-15

Daily Devotional

Proverbs 11:25

"A generous man will prosper; he *****freshes others will himself be refreshed"

Do you need strength and encouragement to make it through a difficult time? Maybe you´ve been through a big disappointment or going through a situation right now that´s just not really fair. I challenge you today, don´t sit around feeling sorry for yourself or allow that cir****tance to overwhelm you. One of the best things you can do is to go help somebody else in need.

The Bible tells us, "God turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends." Isn´t it interesting, Job didn´t see breakthrough by sitting around feeling sorry for himself. He didn´t get healed when he prayed for himself. And we should pray for ourselves and present our requests to God, but if you really want to see things change, go out and be a blessing to someone else. Look for ways to refresh the people around you and watch how your own soul becomes refreshed in return. As you give, it will be given back to you, pressed down, shaken together and running over in every area of your life!

A Prayer for Today: Father in heaven, thank You for Your Word which is life to my soul. Show me ways I can be a blessing to others, help me refresh those around me today. Thank You for refreshing me by Your Spirit. In Jesus´ Name. Amen.

Hi Andy...

You know Andy... you can be assured that the Lord is leading you and He WILL direct your path!  I am just setting back and marveling at how you have changed this year even though I did not know you well before I can see that you are making leaps and bounds in your commitment and desire to be in the very center of the Lord's will!  And I can see Him moving in yours and Susan's lives.

Take courage that even though you feel you have missed things a bit in the past... how many many times have we read this year about how the Lord changed the coarse of people lives when they reconsecrated themselves to Him?  He blessed them and blessed them and blessed them... just like He is you!  It just simply thrills me to see the commitment you've made and how you are striving to keep that commitment... I've done enough weeks of liquid to know what you have gone thru!  IT'S NOT EASY!  but you have done it and you have been blessed for it right along with the other things you are doing to change your life!  I pray the Lord will continue the good work He has started in you until the day of His return! (as they say).

Wow I didn't mean to preach you a sermon but know that I'm ever so proud of you and Susan. What an encouragement you both are to watch!

Bec

P.S. Boy there sure have been some things in the devotions lately that have been good reminders to me to keep up the good fight! It is ever so true when I am able to let Him... when I am weak He is strong!  And how very true it is when we have a need the very best thing we can do is go help some one else... I can't tell you how many times I have found that to be true...  "he *****freshes others will be refreshed himself"!
