Lab results are in.......I NEED HELP PLEASE
I just got the letter in the mail and thought I would share with you and see what my sisters/brothers think. This is the first labs I have had done since surgery on April 7.
WBC-5.5
RBC-4.19 LOW
HGB-10.9 LOW
HCT-32.9% LOW
Sodium 140 mmol
Potassium 3.9 mmol
Glucose 69mg LOW
Calcium 9.2 mg
Magnesium 2.1 mg
Phosphorus 3.2 mg
Iron 17 mcg LOW
Tibc 437 mcg
Vit B12 529 pg
Ferritin 4.4 ng LOW
Tsh .87 milliunit
Cholesterol 147 mg
Hdl 48 mg
Ldl 86 mg
Triglycerides 67 mg
Intact PTH 92.9 pg HIGH
Hemoglobin 5.1%
Vit B1, Whole Blood ARUP 70
Vit D 25 Hydroxy ARUP 25 ng
Zinc 44mcg LOW
Folate RBC ARUP 395 ng
Recommendations: Indicators of your iron status are out of range. My Parathyroid hormone is high which indciates my bones are not getting enough calcium and vit d. My zinc level is low so they say I need to locate a supplment for that.
The scrpit they sent to me reads as follows: Vit D 50,000 iu 2x per week po x 3 month supply.
Does that mean a shot or pills? I get confused on all this.
I can not eat nor drink, Milk, Cottage Cheese or Eggs. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly of help.
Thank You, Becky

have you been doing protein supplements? what kind of vits have you been doing? the prescription of the vit d that the docs always prescribe isnt very good. I know i shouldnt say that but it isnt....you need D3 dry....it only comes in 5000 mlg but your calcium doesnt metobilize with out it...you need about 4 of those a day for the first 6 months daily and you need at least 1500 mg of calcium a day....You need a really good multi vit. 2 times a day.....plus an extra Iron tablet , extra Vit C will help get the iron working ,,,,,now comes the hard part....you CAN NOT take your calcium closer than 2 hours from the Iron....Oh and you only need the iron once a day i take mine in the morning with my multi vit. then 2 hours later i take my first dose of calcium and Vit d...you cant take much more than 600 mg every hour or it doesnt do any good any way.....then 2 hours later about noon i take another dose of vit d and calcium....supper i do the same again with my complete B complex pills... and again at bedtime.... that way you get all your calcium in to your blood stream also your vit d. you have gotten your iron in in the morning .....hope this helps...
and you need for the RBCs you need PROTEIN PROTEIN PROTEIN.....DO ATLEAST 2 PROTEIN SHAKES A DAY.. then try to eat a high protein meal at night. hope this is enough to get you started anyway....you will have to be your own advocate as far as how to fix what is wrong, most of the dietitions want you to just fix it with food and we dont, not unless you can eat like a lumberjack......i am in the process of learning a lot more of this stuff .....so hopefiully this all helps,,,,,
