I think through out the scriptures we have ready already we have seen God in many ways encouraging His people to go the extra mile.  I know when we do go that extra mile in doing different things we feel good about ourselves and feel good about doing the right things.  To me in many things it’s easier to go the extra mile then it is to just go the one mile then stop.  In many area’s of my own life I have to learn to go more, do more.  It’s the little area’s of life that all add up to one big area.  Like I said a couple weeks ago, one thing I really don’t like doing is weeding a garden, whether it be flower or veggie and God has really taught me a lesson in that.  I’ve seen Jan out there weeding away and for her it has paid off, her flowers are so beautiful, you always see something new every time you go through her flower garden because they are so blessed.  In the same way if she hadn’t gone that extra mile to get the weeds out it would not look as pretty because the weeds would eventually take over the place, believe me, out there the weeds grow like crazy.  That is one lesson right there that I am still working on but I am conquering more of it each day.  When we make our minds up to go that extra mile in whatever it is, we’ll be so blessed and feel so good about it. Today I commit myself to go that extra mile.  (Jan I hope you didn’t mind me using that example again.)

Daily Devotional

Matthew 5:41, NKJ
"And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two"

Are you a person of excellence? Do you do more than what´s expected, or do you look for the easy way out? Do you just do the minimum requirement, or do you go the extra mile?

Back in Bible days, by law, Roman soldiers could require a person to carry their armor for one mile. After that mile, they would have to get somebody else to do it. But in this verse, Jesus is saying to go above and beyond the call of duty. Do more than expected. Carry the armor two miles. And that´s the attitude we should have today.

We are called to be people of excellence. We are called to go above and beyond. That´s the attitude God expects, and that´s the attitude God rewards. The world should look at the people of God and think, "Wow. They are people of integrity. People who outshine the rest. I want what they have." I encourage you today to look for ways to go the extra mile. Let your actions bring glory to God and open the door for His blessing in every area of your life.

Today's thought: God, today I choose an attitude of excellence. I want my life to bring You all the glory. Help me find creative ways to be a blessing to those around me.

Good Morning Andy,

Back from another trip to the sil.  Will not have to go back till late Sept now I hope.

I'm glad you got moved and are settling in now.  I'm excited and praying that the Lord is going to bless your upcoming adventures!

You are right about there being some "good word" this past week!  Boy I wish I was able to put into practice all the wonderful good concepts we read of so many days... I guess that is why it is so important to have a lifestyle of study and meditation so that we are always putting good "in" in hopes that in the long run it will eventually change us for the better along with the Lord's mercy and strength.  The devotional was ever so true this morning as often times success does require us to go the extra mile to see the victory... it sure seems like that for me concerning this WLS journey.  It lends me to think of a portion of Psalms today that says: "Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you."  Isn't it wonderful that we have that promise and source of strength to pull from when we struggle!

This week has been particularly difficult for me it seems and I have especially leaned on all the encouraging words the scripture provides!  I'm so thankful for them, they are TRUE for I have certainly seen them at work!

Have a good day all.

Bec
