St Alexius
Are these drs good to work with and how do they do with people over 400 lbs. I am 418 and wondering how Iwill be handled and treated. DOes anybody knowif they want you to lose a lot of weight first at this size like 100 lbs or so or is it less. Any info would be great. I am around the st louis area and just got the process started yesterday and my pcp asked what dr I was looking into using. I told I was looking at St Alexius. Now I am trying to get in for the seminar but the July list was not up yet when I checked a fewminutes ago. Also do they help with the begining ins process like I need to do two 6 month weight loss attempts do they help with this or should '
I just use my dr. He is referring me to a nutritionist and my ins told me they needed to talk to my pcp cause they might pay for my weight loss attempts. Any info even on things I have not thought to ask would be great. I am very new to this and honestly feel a little overwhelmed I don't want this to take any longer then it has to. TIA

Hi! I'm not sure about the hospital or the doctors you are talking about. I know someone on here will know. When I went to the seminar for my surgery it went by BMI, not weight. You had to be 60 bmi or under. But in Columbia. I hope you find the answers you are looking for. Best of luck to you. Lou ;)
Suzy, I am 6 days out from RNY at St Alexius, and I *highly* recommend them. My doc is Richardson, and his partner, Followell are excellent as well. The docs work as a team and together have done 4000 - 5000 procedures. I've had other surgeries in the past, but I've never been treated as professionally, friendly, respectfully and welcome as I have at St Alexius. They should give me a fee for saying that, but honestly I was so impressed. You can call them and get a big packet of info. The whole process you've entered is kind of bewildering, but they will help you through every part of it. Cheers!

I had a wonderful experience at St. Alexius. The group is great, I had my surgery sometime ago but I still ask questions and from time to time attend seminars. It sounds like you may have had a negative experience or are expecting one. This group has your interest in mind, at my heaviest I was 324 and I was treated with lots of respect and care. GO FOR IT and good luck.
