Has anyone used this ins for their surgery. We have it through my husbands job through the department of Corrections here in MO. Just wondering how it is to work with and find drs and all the fun stuff. Any info would be app.

Suzy your best bet is to call your customer service number on your insurance card and ask them if you have weight loss surgery coverage and what their requirements are like a 6 month supervised diet or anything like that. These kind of things are by each policy not insurance company.
Good luck,

Thanks for the replies. I  have called and I know what the criteria is. I go to my pcp on the first to get the process started. I was just mostly wanting to know how they are to work with. Are tehy quick with responses to the drs and just  to work with with WLS in general. I have heard how some ins companies are very hard to work with and I am so hoping this one is not. Sorry I did not make my question clear my fault.

I have Mercy and had no trouble at all.

You just have to meet the requirements.

I work for the state of MO and also have Mercy. I had no problems. You just have to do everything they require. The whole process took a year. Once it was submitted to the insurance company it was approved the next day.

Did you have to do the 2 six month weight loss attempts? If so how did they go? Did you lose much weight? I am afraid if I lose much  weight they will not give me my surgery cause they said failed weight loss attempts. I usually lose some then it stops and starts coming back on.

Yes, I had to do 2 six month diet programs. One had to be a 6 month medically supervised diet and the other had to be from somewhere like Weigh****chers or Jenny Craig. You have to lose at least 10% of your body weight in order to qualify for surgery. My starting weight was 274 so I had to lose 27 lbs.
