No, I haven't had the pleasure yet! I plan on it though!

I have talked to Karla a few times online though. She seems pretty awsome! I attend Dr Gorospe's meetings in Owasso each month, but would love to come over and meet everybody in Joplin sometime. I hear you guys are growing ( group wise of course LOL!) by leaps and bounds! I told her I wanted to come over and get some ideas to bring back to our small group here in Coffeyville! So don't be surprised to see me some day soon!!

I sent Karla the information about our get together, did she happen to mention it to any of you'all?

I am so sorry...it never "dawned" on me that some people might know who "vitalady" is! :)

Go to www.vitalady.com and check our their vita blog and site!

They have a website devoted to bariatric vitamins and products.
Michelle and Don both are long term bariatric patients and have devoted there entire lives to education other WLS patients on the vital importance of correct vitamin and protien supplementation in order to prevent weight gain and long term  health issues that so many bariatric patients are now facing due to taking the wrong kind of vitamins supplements or NOT taking any vitamins at all!
Although she works with some of the countries top bariatric doctors... She has "self taught" herself  nutrition, WLS vitamins and is an EXPERTin regard to  the required labs that bariatric patients are required to do yearly.
She has analaysed thousands of WLS lab results over the last ten years. She is NOT a medical person, but quite frankly...she knows more about the daily requirements for bariatric patients than most of the bariatric surgeons and their nutritionts I have ever talked to!!!!

I know that's a  bold and profound statement to make...but you must realize, I have been a bariatric patient for over 10 years, have worked in the industry and have had a lap band for over 8 years and now have a gastric bypass..., I've seen WAY tooo many people WLS people  develop drastic problems and health issues due to NO supplementation or takiing the wrong KIND of vitamins that they don't absorb...or taking ENOUGH supplements.

They are dedicated to "educating" and "teaching" what our bariatric doctors and Primary care physcians simply don't or cant teach... due to not fully understanding it themselves...no fault of their own, I'm certainly not bashing doctors here! I think it takes someone who lives it to fully understand it and teach it...basic nturition 101 for the WLS lifestyle...They LIVE it and have for over 10 years!
She is able to look at you lab values and tell you how to "Tweek" your vitamin supplements..based on thousands of labs she has looked at....and tell you what problems you can correct with what type of vitamin supplements...such as...Gastric bypass patients only absorb calcium Citrate..not any other kind...certain types of iron are NOT absorbed by us and the levels of our lab values are MUCH higher that those of "normies".
So if your doctor is saying your labs are fine and they don't see any problem because they are in the "normal" ranges... may NOT be necessarly true....we require MUCH higher lab values due to the lack of absorption or lack of caloric intake than "NORMAL" people!
Does this make any sense to you?
I have personally been the "victim" of my labs being inturpeted wrong and it almost cost me my life! SOOOOO .. I am a HUGE believer of getting the word out to as many WLS people as I can...knowledge is POWER and with knowledge ...we CAN  live the rest of our lives with our "tools" and NOT regain the weight or develop long term  health issues that can be prevented in the first place...IF YOU  just KNOW!!!
Michelle is a regular "poster" on several online WLS support groups and OH so she is well known in the national bariatric community and throught the AMBSA comminty as well. They make a yearly trip to the bariatric conference each year and makes several stops along the way to visit with friends and customers both ways...check out their "Vitatour 2009" blog on their web site....

This is a cool and unusual chance for those of us in this neck of the woods to get to meet her and spend some "one on one" time with the "knowledabgle" one! My words...not hers! LOL!!

Whew...I bet your sorry you asked now...huh!? LOL!!!!

Originally yes, BUT it has been SO hot...we're moving it inside! We have a huge family room and should fit everybody... so no worries...I'm such a whimp when it comes to the heat! LOL!!!

Carol

Be sure to bring a lawn chair though, just so we make sure and have enough seats!
