Daily Bible Reading - Tuesday June 9th

Today’s reading was pretty interesting.  In the Old Testament we have Solomon building the temple that God actually wanted David to build but David never got to do it.  Reading about how the temple was put together you can just imagine how beautiful it was, especially on the inside that was lined with gold.  It took them 7 years to build, that seems like a long time but back then I guess everything was done by manual labor, no machines nothing, all done by hand,  that makes the temple even more special to me.  Putting that together must have been like putting a huge puzzle together, having to get every piece just right, having to carve each stone, each piece of wood just right so that it fit perfect, talk about workmanship, I can just imagine how beautiful the temple really was.  David and Solomon both had to of really listened close to what God told them in how to build the temple, just like in the devotional, we really have to listen to what God says closely and seek out His Word in our lives in order to do what He wants us to do and how He wants us to do it, for me I need to focus more on what God is telling me, that’s so important so not to get His instructions wrong.

Daily Devotional

Isaiah 53:3

“Incline your ear, and come into me; hear and your soul shall live…"

Have you ever been talking to someone and you realized he was not hearing a word you were saying?  Although he was right in front of you, his mind was someplace else.

God is talking all the time to us.  Are we listening when He is speaking?

The main way God speaks to His children is through His word.  However, when under great pressure, do you run to the Word to find strength and peace?  Or are you focused on the problem?  The Word of God contains the answers you desperately need.  And it’s through prayer and meditating on the Word that God will show you what steps to take to see you through adversity.

Today’s Thought:  I choose today to listen closely what God is telling me and I choose to run to focus on the Word of God and not the problem.

Good Morning Andy...

I had to smile at the devotional today as I thought about listening...
... it is a joke in our family that when someone is talking and they sense you are "straying" in your attention... they shake you and say

"Hey... you... are you listening to me!"

We had a "relative" that was known to "rattle" on and on and on and on and on... for simply hours and they expected you set there and listen... that's what they did if you "strayed" in your listening... oh my oh my did that get old listening to him rattle about the "inexhaustible resources of the dominion".... ~tee hee

Not at all like listening to the precious instruction of the Lord.  Such a good lesson to me about what we let into our minds...  Oh how many times have we read over and over this year the Lord tell his people that if they would just listen and obey Him He would fulfill His promises to them and never turn His back on them!

Such a warfare I seem to face with the "flesh" to continually keep myself in the very center of the will of God.  But He gave me the means to do it...He gave me all the power at His disposal... it's up to me to utilize it... huh?  So much of the time I sell myself short I think.

Another good day of word to ponder on and try to "listen closely" and put this vital concept into action in my own life.

A blessed day to all!
