dizzy spells

I have noticed several people say they have almost passed out one here and the RNY board. Well its happened to me also. Yesterday it hit me twice and I know I was hydrated. I didn't think about my blood pressure. It was weird, everything started going dark and I felt my knees going. Thankfully I was where I could sit quickly and got ok. Anyone have an idea what is causing this. I get plenty of everything I think except calcium and I am a little short there. I keep forgetting at night but I eat a lot of dairy .

I had the worst orthodontist visit ever this morning. I am in pain and now have to wear rubber bands also. I cannot open my mouth but a quarter of an inch. Forget chewing it hurts too much. I hope missing meals won't stop me from losing anything because it will be several days at least before I can chew. It will all shakes and yogurt.

Susie i dont know what causes this but the farther out you get it doesnt happen as much. if any.
Maybe Dr. H will see this and give us a reason for it....maybe has to do with the blood pressure going down too low or maybe the blood sugar could be a lot of things i would think...

Susie, and Jan....
I personally think that it our blood sugar, Pix and I just had this thread about a week ago...it like your world starts going foggy and dark..right?? I have to quickly sit and almost feel like I need to put my head between my legs....But once I go and get something to eat...everything is all good....Im still a little weak, but it passes within an hour....
I had by BS checked the last time that happen when I was at work...and it was in the lower 70's....the first time it happen I was in the upper 60's...now I just keep crackers or protein bars with me at all times, you never know when its going to hit ya

Hi, Susie:

I had trouble with dizziness and I actually "fainted" once.  Actually I kinda just fell down.  I went to the doctor and I had very low blood pressure.  I had high blood pressure before my RNY and was on hp medication.  However, went off of it the day of my surgery.  When I was pregnant with my first son, almost 19 years ago, I had toxemia and started using "Lite Salt".  I didn't even have "regular" salt in the house.  My PCP told me to go to the store and buy regular salt and to use as much of it as I good.  Well, I did and it worked!  My blood pressure is still on the low side, however, the dizziness and fainting have subsided.  I had forgotten just how good Regular Salt tasted!

Please keep us posted on how you're doing and please go see your PCP.

Take Care,

I was having the same problem,  finally went to get my blood checked (ordered by marjie) and found out I was dangerously low on iron, she put me on pruvate 21 /7  no more dizzy spells. btw I HAD HAD MY BLOOD CHECKED PRIOR TO THAT BY MY REG. DOC. UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS NOT DONE CORRECTLY, YOU REALLY NEED TO GO INTO A REAL LAB- HOSP. WITH YOUR SURGEONS ORDERS FOR THE BLOOD WORK TO BE done right ....sorry just realized I was still on caps lol....anyhow, it is alot more detailed than what most dr offices are equipped for, all I know is the dizziness is almost gone now.  good luck and please let us know what you find out.
