Daily Bible Reading - Monday June 8th

Reading in I Kings about Solomon and how he has the favor of the Lord is really amazing.  The Lord called David a man after His own heart and it seems Solomon has that same heart and will be even greater then David ever was.  The Lord really saw the potential that Solomon had and was very pleased with him especially when Solomon had the dream and when the Lord asked Solomon in the dream what he wanted Solomon asked for wisdom on how to rule Gods people properly.  Solomon could of asked for riches and fame and all that but he didn’t and that really pleased God to no end and God gave Solomon the wisdom he asked for along with all the riches and fame he could ever dream of.  Solomon must have been a great song writer for he wrote 1000 songs and 3000 proverbs, now that’s using his wisdom wisely.  I can’t wait to get into more of the story of Solomon.  In Sunday School yesterday we were talking about David and what a good leader he had been, even though David messed up at times he wasn’t beyond recognizing his sins and asking God for forgiveness unlike Saul who was very prideful at the end of his reign.  It looks like Solomon is going to be even a wiser and more powerful king then David.  Reading the devotional this morning reminds of how David became king.  God wanted to replace Saul as king, he saw the potential that David had, he looked at David’s heart and not his outward appearance.  If God had looked at David’s outward appearance and not his heart I don’t think God would made David king because David was just a small boy and I don’t think he grew up to a tall man, I believe he was a short man but very powerful.  Just like David, God sees the potential in us, he sees our heart and knows what we have inside us to do, God sees the skinny healthier us and is there to help bring that part of us out if we only allow Him too.

***Bec*** I think today’s reading and devotion continues from what you were saying yesterday.  Like you I just love what the Psalm said “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mt. Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever"  With God’s wisdom and understanding like Solomon had there is no way we can be shaken or taken down, if you think about it, Mt. Zion still stands today after all these hundreds of thousands of years, it still stands there tall and unshaken, wow!  Thanks for your words, they always seem to bring out another view that I had not seen and bless me to no end.

Joel 3:10

“…let the weak say I am strong."

One year a young rookie football player was a top NFL draft pick.  The football team choosing him didn’t pick him because of his height or weight.  They didn’t choose him because of his accomplishments in college.  They chose him because of the potential he possessed to become a great athlete.

You probably don’t realize the potential you have in God.  Although you can’t accomplish some things in your own strength, you can accomplish anything in God’s strength.  Instead of focusing on weaknesses, focus on the potential you have in God.  No matter what is surrounding you, “I am strong" needs to be your daily confession.  You’ve got to believe in yourself “in God."  The “in God" part is what is important.  That’s the part that will see you through any adversity.

People often ask, “How is God going to turn this situation around?"  I don’t know, but God does!  Instead of focusing on “how" focus on the Author and Finisher of our faith (Heb: 12:2).  He is the One Who cdan give you the ability to triumph over your cir****tances.

Andy...

Appreciated  your thoughts again today!

I dearly love the Proverbs!  There is so much "wisdom" in them.... can you imagine if we could just put a fraction of those concepts to work in our lives how much better off we would be!

Love the story of Solomon too!  He has so much to give and found such favor with the Lord and the people!

I love that story about him telling those women to cut the baby in half and the real mom of coarse could never see that happen... now how he handled that is WISDOM at it's best!

Isn't it so easy in our readings to see how the Lord was at work in so many ways in so many lives and that "surrender" word brings such peace and success!   Now putting it to work in our own lives is a much harder thing to do it seems but still we know it is a good thing, and when we are able to we KNOW we see that same blessing to us as well.

The word as always was good this morning and I am going to try and keep it in mind as I go about my day.

Blessings to all.
