Hey everyone!  Has ANYBODY out there had a revision done from the Lap Band to DS?  I'm coming up on my 1 year Bandaversary, and have only lost a measly 50 lbs!  (Ok, I say measly because literally EVERYBODY around me has gotten RNY and 1 friend has lost 120 lbs in 7 mos, with only 15 lbs to lose until goal.  Yes I know that u lose faster w/ RNY, but I'm still disgusted with my decision w/ the band.) Shots in the stomach SUCK and they've NEVER been able to hit the port on the first try.....4, 5, 6 sticks! UUGH!  Please send me a PM if you have, and share your story...  thanks so much!

Tonya  welcome to the board and i hope that someone will let you know if they have done what you are considering....have you been to  a surgeon yet ?
i had the RNY and have done well with it. I really would like to lose more but dont think i will lol .
at first i considered the band but the more i thought about it the more it didnt seem to be the thing for me....someone said that now you have to pay 100 dollars each time you get a fill now , is that true?  hope to see more of you , come to a support meeting with Renee this month.... would love to meet you.

Hi Jan,

I've received about 3 replies, all of which have been extremely positive.  Renee and I had the same surgeon....Dr. Roger de la Torre.  He's pretty top notch worldwide, and I'm pretty impressed w/him.  I've had such HORRRRRIBLE experiences w/ the band fills that I wouldn't go back for another one if I WAS gaining weight! It has been truly traumatic for me!!  One time it took 3 SURGEONS a total of 6 attempts to find my port, THEN they sent me to Fluoro, fished around some more, and finally got it.  I had a mass bruise about 6" round on my stomach from all the pressing/sticking, etc.  It's so nice hearing from you!  My email is   [email protected]  if you would like to email me directly some time, I'd sure appreciate the extra company!  I feel so down and disgusted, and you and Renee are SO positive!  Tonya

Hey girl...... it's great to see you on the mo board welcome welcome. Your going to love the people on here, they are so loving, caring, helpful, funny, amazing and I could go on and on about them. I can honestly say I would have never have made it this far with out them.
It sounds like you have gotten some very good emails, I hoped they helped. I wish I could give you all the answers you need but I just can't since I didn't have the lapband (thank God). But trust me when I say this you are going to do just fine, and we will get through this together. Your more than welcome to come stay at my house to recover or maybe we can split the time up between my house and yours (we will get it worked out). Please just know I love you and you WONT BE ALONE.
Let me know when your appointment is since I have to reschedule mine, maybe we can get it on the same day or something. Plus I'm planning on meeting up with some other ladies in that area that I know you will love. Hopefully Janet will be able to go with us.
Make plans to go to the meeting on the 4th Monday of this month so you can meet everyone there. Hopefully we will have a big group this month. The support meeting's are a huge huge part of it, they help out in so many different ways. It's not just the surgery part it's everything that goes with it. But I believe I've already told you this, I'm tired and rambling now. LOL ( I've spent the night on the phone with Larry, it worries me when he's driving all night after being up all day, but he should be here about 6 or 7 in the morning.
I'm really not for sure about how positive I am all the time, but I know for sure this surgery has changed my life for the better and I would do it every year if I had to.......I LOVE MY RNY.
Remember if you need anything or just want to talk I'm only a phone call away plus you know where I live.
And thanks for this past weekend I loved every minute of it.
OK I'm off to bed....... sweet dreams.

Renee

If He bring's you to it.... He will bring you through it.

Hey bestest buddy!  Again you've come thru for me to console my doubts and fears! I just pray that I'll get accepted for the revision, but  they did say that it was a pretty common thing, and our surgeon, Dr. De La Torre, is pretty top notch....I'd feel very comfortable going under the knife with him at the wheel again.  Thank you for being there for me thru all the good times and bad...was just thinking about the time you drove over an hour in the wee morning, with snow and ice on the roads, to pick me up at the hospital after all of my family had deserted me.  You're my true angel and I luv ya girl!  I look forward to going thru this whole ordeal w/ you by my shde cheering me on, if/when I have "wunna those days".

Tonya I am sorry you have had such a difficult time with your lapband. I have not had any problems and have had great success with mind. I have never been stuck more than once with each fill and it is over with before I even realize it. It only costs me my copay of $10.00. I honestly think it is more operator skill (fill professional) than lapband. Like how some can take blood for lab work and never hurt you and then the next lab tech hurts like the devil.
Anyway wanted to wish you success with your revision and to let anyone reading this and thinking about getting a lap band know not all experiences have been like yours.
