Home from the hospital

Well just thought I would update, I am home from the hospital and surgery wasn't all that bad. Just the extra gas in my body and the cumbersome drain that I will have for another week. Other than that, I'm doing okay. Feel so new at eating, wow am I in another world, one that doesn't revolve around food? Never could I have imagined such a place...

Thanks for listening,

Jennifer

It is a new world after WLS.  I didn't have the drain to deal with.  Some people mourn the loss of the food they used to eat but I've never had that problem.  I was concerned that since before surgery I ate when stressed I would still have that problem but I haven't.  So far I've dealt with stressful situations by exercising or reading.

Glad to hear you are doing well.

It's so hard to keep up with everything, vitamins, fluids, drain cleaning, and food. I am working on it though. I have three children that are so of help because I cannot bend to the ground without hurting...yet. I'm sure it will get better, until then Tylenol with codeine has been my right hand man!! lol

I hope those old habits don't come back. Food used to be the first thing on my mind in the morning when I woke up...What will I eat today? Definitely changed because I have a hard time remembering to eat when water keeps me happy. I know I need to eat so I do. I sat and waited for prescriptions yesterday while my boyfriend ate (with my blessing) fast food and I had absolutely no urge to reach across the table and steal anything, which is for sure a new me. Thank God for WLS!

the really great thing about your new tool and eating, Im three years out and sometime my hubby will get a just great looking desert...i will almost be drooling i will take a tiny little bite and that is enough and i no longer yearn for it  (i can say No because i can....and that is so impowering...
we no longer are a slave to hunger.  you have the power to control....there will be head hunger but just know that most of the things the head wants you cant have. hope you have a good support system , there will be a lot of times you need someone that understands where you are from , we are always here or most always. good luck

YAY! Have you ever been so happy to be a looser? lol  That drain is the very worst part.  You will feel like a million bucks when that comes out for sure.  Everyday it gets easier and easier until finally I'm 7  months out, eating is a chore.  I used to live to eat now I eat to live.  You will be amazed to watch how much people eat and think its sickining that you ever ate that much.  I've lost 120lbs and am happier than I have been in years.  The first few weeks are hard, trying to get, like you said everything in that you need, but you will do great!  Can't wait to see you progress.  Best of luck to you honey! Lou ;)

Congratulations on becoming a loser!   YAY for you!!!  Like Lou said, once you get that stinkin drain & staples out you will feel like a new woman.  You'll feel 100% better.  I remember that was such a great day.  I was scared about getting the drain out, but it doesn't hurt, but feels REALLY weird. LOL    Good Luck to ya!!!   (((HUGS))) Angy
