A whole lot has happened

Since the last time I wrote bad things have happened. On 12-20-08 I was pretty much considered dead. Only because of the timing of 911 and smart choices at two hospitals and the surgery of a wonderful doctor I am alive. My small intestine and bowel ruptured and filled my body with bacterial infection. I was in ICU from the 20th-27th then on a surgery floor until 01-01-09. I went home for two days and was re-admitted for total dehydration. I was in the hospital for a total of 17 days. I lost 30 LB's during that time. Because of the dehydration I lost ALL of my muscle and any fat. I had to learn to walk again. I still don't do steps well. I have been having problems with eating now. If I take one bite of anything I am beyond sick, passing out and in  a lot of pain. I had a scope down the throat and was told I had a very bad ulcer. Was put on meds but nothing has helped. Someday I will hopefully get better. Just to let you know, my gastric bypass surgery had nothing to do with it rupturing. I had fallen on the ice about two weeks before and that might have had something to do with it. On 12-20-08 I weighed 200 LB's. Now I weigh 151 LB's. I started at 316 and my surgery was July14,2008. I need to find a way to put on muscle fast. I am nothing but skin and very boney. Any clues on how to do

so very sorry about all the medical problems  sounds like you have been thru the wringer.
I cant imagine being that sick ....
the only way i know to get muscle and some body fat back on is protein.. can you keep protein shakes down? you said you cant eat . what are you getting into your body? have to be getting something in...maybe you can build on that ...if you are able to drink water.  try the Isopure protein drinks....poured over ice or in crystal light they arent bad at all. are they going to operate for the ulcer? you probably need to be seeing a nutritionist.
will keep you in my prayers and hope that things start turning around for you.

I am making myself eat even if it does make me sick. I just have a couple bites at a time and then put up with it. I make sure that I eat a lot of meats if anything so that it is protein. I do drink some protein drinks but isopure will never touch my lips again. Way too sweet and tastes horrible. No word about any operations. I need to see my doctor again when I can get the time. I will make it. I just have to work on it. Have a good night.   Barb

Not giving up. I just wish all the pain and sickness would go away. I know it will but who knows when. I must say that I would have my gastric again in a heartbeat, I was so healthy and mobile and I was getting athletic too. But that one night when I burst that was it. I will never forget it. Thanks for writing me. Have a good night. Barb
