Dr De La Torre, anyone got any good stories

I was wondering if anyone on the board had surgery done by Dr De La Torre?  If so, how was he, and the after care?

He was my surgeon, but I've never met the man. 

In Columbia your after care is assumed by a bariatrician, who is excellent.

I had Dr De la Torre for my surgeon. He held a group question and answer session before surgery and I saw him before surgery. That is the only time I saw him and ordinarily I would be bothered by that but I know he is a very skilled surgeon, that is why I chose him. Bariatric surgery is the only surgery he does now (that is what I was told). I was treated very well at the hospital by all the staff. I think the staff at MO Bar are the best. Very helpful and always there to answer any questions I have had. I think you will be pleased with your choice..Good luck on your journey...

I had Dr. de la Torre for my surgery last Tuesday. When I went for my pre-op appt I was under the impression I would meet him. When I got to the appt he was nowhere in sigt. I asked if I could meet him and they acted like that was an unusual request. I got to meet with him all of 5 minutes and he told me I would never see him again. It was really weird to me. So as for how he is personally I have no idea. He was a good doctor though (just bad bed-side manner). I've had no problems thus far.

Thanks for responding.  I had to do a three month preoperative program with him and I saw him four times for two minutes each, but not enough to gain any insight into his personalilty.  I guess all that matters is his skills as a surgeon.

Dr D did my surgery a little over 2 years ago and I met him at the question and answer session (actually 2 x's for those) then I met him the day of surgery for about 5 minutes before and Ive seen him once for an after visit after surgery for about the same 5 minutes. He is very professional and direct but that is probably what makes him an excellent surgeon....

He's done several thousands of them by now I would guess so you would be in good hands.

His PA Della was who I mostly delt with and she is a great lady.
