Surgery is over - Take 2

Sorry but I am having a hard time getting this to post! I had to type all of this out again!
Well I made it through surgery last Tuesday with no major problems. I found out (by scratching all day and night) that I was allergic to Morphine. I also had a very hard time sleeping at the hospital. Mostly because of the itching and my noisy roommate. Once I got over the itching and my roommate left, things were so much better. When I was in the hospital I had almost no pain. The whole time I was in the hospital I did not pass any gas even though I was walking a lot. They told me not to worry...it would come.
I made it home Thursday. I was so glad to get home and back to a semi-normal life. I just can't stand hospitals. Once I was released I probably pushed myself harder than I should have. I ended up sore that night and slept for 10 hours, up for 2, and back down for 4 more. The whole time I was in the hospital I did not take my blood pressure meds (they told me not to take them for a while) or my Paxil. They told me I could take the Paxil when I got home because it is pea size. Well I took it Friday and Saturday and ended up spending the majority of the day in pain. I'm not sure if it was related to the gas I was finally passing or the pill I took. Oh and I also developed a lovely fever blister. Sunday I decided not to take the pill and I had the best day ever! I had absolutely NO PAIN Sunday. I went to my cousin's for Easter and had such a good time. My family is the type of family that holiday's revolve around food. I brought Apple's to Apple's and Monopoly. We had such a good time playing games! I kept reminding myself I didn't need food to have a good time. Around 10:30 last night I started to get really sharp pains in my drain area. I ended up going to bed. That did help for the most part but I am a little sore today. I am going to again assume I pushed myself too hard yesterday.
I am having a hard time getting my clear protein in this week. I have heard it isn't too important the first week. Is that true?
Well I just wanted to share my past few days with you. Take care.

Welcome to the loosers bench!  It sounds like you're doing great.  I remember they told me the first week not to worry to much about protein, just fluids.  I lived on half and half apple juice for a week.  I still can't drink apple juice because I was so sick of it after that first week.  Isn't that drain fun?  To me that was the worse part, I did have some major gas pains that felt like someone was stabbing me, but they were few and far between.  Did you get some Gas X strips, they really do help ALOT. It sounds like everything is going great for you and when you get that drain out you will feel like a new lady.  Best of luck to you and congradulations! (~.~) Lou

Jody,
Hello. Like yourself I got to come home Thursday as well. It is hard to belive it has been a week.  I to did not pass gass in the hospital too much. I also came home with a fever bluster on my top lip as of Friday. I just assumed it was due to the fact that they had me drink that yucky pottusium (sp?).
I hate Jello right now. I hated it the last time I had surgery. I will probably never be able to eat Jello or Broth again after these next 2 weeks. Bring on the soups, milk.
Good Luck to you Jody. I wish you and everyone all the best
