Daily Bible Reading - Thursday April 9th

Deuteronomy has been quite the book to read, some parts well a lot of it I haven’t really understood much but have gotten a good bit out of is but it’s coming to an end I think only one more day of reading then we move onto Joshua.  Now Joshua can be an interesting book I think.  I’ve not read much of it but what little I’ve read I believe was interesting.

Reading the devotional this morning really hit home again, well as usual, most of them speak to me greatly, anyway, while reading it I thought back to some past mistakes that have been made, that really haunt me at times, I’ve asked for forgiveness for them and all but you know the devil, he’s gonna bring it up in your face time and time again and make you feel like your not worthy to move on and do bigger and better things.  Well this devotional just confirms that God doesn’t operate like that and I’ve known that I just haven’t let it sink in to my think brain.  Like the devotional said, set backs are a part of life but we have God to turn to in order to get set back on track and learn not to do what it is we did in the first place.  God wants us to move on, after we ask for forgiveness its time to move forward, learn from our mistakes and do better.  Its sometimes not the easiest thing do to, sometimes is very hard but you know with God Everything is possible. That really spoke to me and set my spirit free in a couple area’s of my life, thank you Lord.

Well I’m gonna get this posted and do a bit more studying on a couple other things; y’all have a blessed and wonderful Thursday.

Daily Devotional

Philippians 3:14
"I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

God has planted His seed of hope, power and victory inside of you! All you have to do is allow God to bring the best out of your life and decide you won't settle for "good enough." It may not always be easy to do this, but it's very possible! Perhaps you have made a hurtful mistake in your past, and that is still haunting you. If you let the enemy tell you that you're not good enough for God's forgiveness, then you're settling for less than God's victory. Setbacks are part of life, but Jesus said He came to give you an abundant life! If you decide to strive for excellence, there is no limit to what the Lord can do through you and with you.

Today's thought: God, I know that You have given me forgiveness and desire that I live in victory. I choose to live in Your victory today and not settle for "good enough."

I Corinthians 15:57 - But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Good Morning Andy...

How ironic it is that I woke up in the night and read this portion out of a series of books that I just finished... about forgiveness... It really spoke to me and I purposed to write it down before I took the books back only to get on see what you have written today... isn't that just like God to confirm His thoughts to us in more than one way!

We may always hurt from the memory of whats happened, but there comes a time when we have to put it behind us, completely.  Accept accountability for our wrongs... but in the midst of accountability, forgiveness must also flow.  If we do not forgive ourselves, we are rejecting the very gift God has given us, namely His love and forgiveness toward us.

Lack of forgiveness is a cancerous growth inside many a heart that hinders full relationship with the Heavenly Father.  Unforgiveness prevents more people from intimacy with God than anything.  It is one of the most lethal of human diseases.  For most it is an unresolved bitterness toward another person, often a parent.  But unforgiveness toward oneself can be just as blocking to the Father's love.

I don't know what you face or what you struggle with Andy but I do know that there is as the devotional says, HOPE, POWER AND VICTORY for you! And the setbacks you have faced are not too big for the great big forgiving God that we serve!!! Considering the devotional and the words I read in the night we will purpose to forgive ourselves and can look forward to great things in the Lord!!!  There is not a one of us that doesn't struggle at some time or another with needing to forgive ourselves as much as others I think?

I enjoyed the devotion yesterday as it pertained to joy again... don't you know there is just no better way to be than in right relationship with God! "Inexpressible and glorious" joy it said! That's thrilling to me!

Have a good and wonderful day!

BEC.....GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!  lol....wow, that was some good stuff you gave Andy (and me! albeit that wasn't your intent...doesn't God work in mysterious ways?)

I haven't enjoyed Deuteronomy as much as the others but part of that is the repetition.  There has been some really good things but I found myself wanting to skim over and missing the nuggets.  I am looking forward to Joshua, tho!  He was one of the faithful and gets the privilege of leading Israel into the promised land.  You could sense the heaviness in Moses' heart towards the end of this book.  He SO wanted to cross into the promised land yet was refused because of his sin in the desert.  He was a lot like me, wrapped up in THIS life and forgetting the better things to come.  He was so heavy about not going to the promised land that he was missing the fact that he was GOING to the Promised Land....heaven!  (This is all my opinion!)  I'm sure when he breathed his last and was gathered to God that he didn't care a hoot about not being with Israel.

So...the Lord had me study on surrender/submission and then on control.  Guess where that has led?  Grace!  Go figure.  Doesn't seem to have a thing to do with the others....at first.  Just when I think I have heard or read every lesson on a subject, He shows me how little I actually know.  So I'm planning on doing a little more studying on that today and see what Shelia has to say tomorrow.  The interesting thing is that every subject He has led me study has led back to the others I have already studied.  Looks like He is trying to show me that my issues are all connected and if I allow Him access to one area it will impact the other areas, also.

Andy....I so understand!  God forgets when He forgives, even when we don't.  I used to continually go to Him for a sin that I committed when I was 17 years old...one that still breaks my heart.  It has been hard for me to understand that He has forgiven and forgotten.  So when I ask for forgiveness over and over, He doesn't know what I am talking about.  I still have to pay consequences because of my poor choice but guilt isn't one of those.  True guilt means worthy of blame (and leads us to God), false guilt is condemnation.  And condemnation is intended to separate us from God.  We can definitely see which Satan prefers.  Thanks for your honesty, buddy.  Gives me something to think about yet again.
