Fort Leonard Wood Support Group

Good Morning, I am wondering if there is a group, or if any of those in the Ft Leonard Wood and surrounding areas, would be interested in having a group here. Not that I dont like going to Osage Beach for a group, but sometimes the hour there and hour back can be a bit more time consuming than I have on a given day. And the Springfield group on Monday nights just doesnt seem to be fitting the schedule. Not to mention that is also an hour drive one way and another hour back.

I know there are quite a few folks on here from the area but not sure if any of you would consider a group locally. I have a friend who went with me to the Osage Beach group this past week and another gal I know who is in the process of getting her approval for having RNY surgery. We all live in this area. Just let me know if you would be interested and we can go from there.

For those not in our immediate area, you would all  be welcome, if you are willing to travel.

I actually live in St Robert, just outside of Ft Leonard Wood. I just had surgery 2 weeks ago this past monday.

Not sure where Edgar Springs is? Congrats on your new journey. Thus far for me, I am enjoying watching a new me emerge. And even happier that my bathroom scale is not broken any more and moving up. (LOL) But somehow was fixed and moving down.

Long story to the scale thing

Oh, you arent that far away at all. It says about 30 min to the main gate if you take the back roads clear up to 44. Or I am sure the east gate or back gate are much closer to you.

Good Afternoon,

Hello, I am Tammy.  I had my WLS surgery (RNY) in October 2008.  I have been pretty active in this website pretty much since my surgery and have met some great people.  unfortunately, like you said yourself, There are just not enough hours in the day and definately not enough days in the week!!
I seems that the more weight I lost - the more energy I gained - and the more time tha I lost!! I guess with the extra energy, (which had been sorely lacking in the last 20 ++ years!!) I got myself involved in extra things to the point were now I simply am struggling more with time management than with weightloss these days.
Mind you I am not complaining about the extra energy or the weightloss, but now I seemed to have lost track with several friends I met via this website, because I never seem to have the time to go to the WLS group meetings when they have them.  I do wish we had a group here locally.  I mean - I never realized how many others in the local area (I live in West Waynesville) have had or are preparing to have this surgery.
If you (or any others) are able to set something up locally I would love to get involved.
I know that when I as preparing for my surgery early last year - There used to be advertisements every week in the local paper for a support group but I guess they stopped that group because when I looked into it after my surgery, it no longer existed.

Please let my know if you hear anything else or decide to get together some time - even if just for coffe/tea some time.

Thank you
Tammy Krzysik

I will check around and see if there is somewhere we can hold the group. I have 2 friends, one is 3 yrs out and another in the process of getting it approved. So I am guessing we would have at least 5 of us. Not a big group, but it is a start. It of course doesnt mean we can not go to the other groups. Only that we have the option of a closer group when our days just do not have enough hours in them.

I think it would be nice as well to just get  to know the others in the area who are in our shoes. regardless of the time they have spent in them.

I know when I went to the Osage Beack group, there were only 3 of us there. But I was just shy of 2 weeks out. It was so nice to get feedback and others experiences. It felt good knowing I wasnt alone and could call on, or email or whatever others .

This forum is great, but you can only type so much.

If you have any ideas on locations please feel free to share them.
